Does this also bypass the $7.75 "Recovery Fee" that they charge on their site through on of their post paid plans?
I asked them. You get charged the recovery fee if you choose to continue with Mint. $7.75 is the "introductory" recovery fee for the Unlmited Plan, for the renewal after this 3 month plan, it will be 8.50. $5.63 is the "introductory" recovery fee for the smallest 4 GB plan.

Ok great. With the Mint Mobile SIM from best buy for 3 months pre-paid service on Mint, I won't be asked to pay the extra $7.75 recovery fee at any point right?
Darianny 07:36
We charge for recovery fee but Best buy has their price and you would be charged for taxes only, but when you renew keep in mind that we do charge recovery fee.

Does any one have experience with hotspot on Mint ? Also what kind of speeds do we expect considering it's a MVNO ?

I dont mind having a new number, but do they check for device ID and block them if its been on network recently?
Also looking for an answer to this. My 6 month for $45 is ending and this seems like a good deal to extend another 3 months and I don't mind losing my number.

Only $30 for 90 days of service, thats 33 cents a day! - just try it out..

As for me, this is just in time for my current plan to expire - google voice works wonders! The savings have well paid off the small fee to port in my number that i give out to folks to GV.

It says our Mint service starts from the time that you activate your plan. Mint Mobile SIM cards can be activated up to 45 days after you receive your SIM.

How does Mint know when I receive the card? Just curious...

I was told by mint customer service that all physical SIMs sold at best buy are actually partially activated in terms of the 45 days when they are shipped from Mint to the retailer. Could this possibly be why Best Buy seems to run these promotions every 30-45 days, to clean out stock of their products?

Customer service mentioned that if I had problems activating and I was within 45 days of my receipt Mint customer service would take care of it, with proof of purchase.

I held the last one for 35 days, and had no problem activating it.

It's my opinion and just a guess that some type of expiration date clock starts when the SIM is shipped, notice the packaging of the SIM. The barcode numbers of the SIM card are clearly visible through the backside of the packaging.

Last offer was January 25th, 2021 for the 10 GB, but it seems random as to when and which SIM goes on sale. The 4 GB I've seen down to $20-$25.

Where is everyone getting this blocking the device concern from? Seems you have some background knowledge since you are the first to mention on this post but are asking a question. So can you explain exactly where your concern is coming from because that's quite an odd question to ask.

Btw I've been switching for a while and never had this issue. The more recent mint deals folks have been randomly mentioning about device blocking, but never once has anyone confirmed this actually happening.

Is there anyway to port your number out of mint to GV and then port in as new customer?

It seems like people are implying you can but no details. It seems like mint would block the same number or device.

How much was it to port your number to Google Voice? And Essentially you are now just picking up plans on sale and forwarding the new numbers to your Google Voice? And calling on your Google Voice number?
