Where is everyone getting this blocking the device concern from? Seems you have some background knowledge since you are the first to mention on this post but are asking a question. So can you explain exactly where your concern is coming from because that's quite an odd question to ask.

Btw I've been switching for a while and never had this issue. The more recent mint deals folks have been randomly mentioning about device blocking, but never once has anyone confirmed this actually happening.
The last buy 3 get 3 months free promo had this additional stipulation on the T&C that the phone IMEI# should not have been on Mint for past 90 days. I did not do that promo, just remember reading about it

Yeah, I already mentioned about folks posting on the last BB deal, so just a whole bunch of speculation and inaccurate regarding folks who get new number. I got the last deal bogo 3 month deal and had been a mint customer previously with same device - never had any issue.

I had the issue and called customer care and solved it. They said it is with mint within last 90 days

How much was it to port your number to Google Voice? And Essentially you are now just picking up plans on sale and forwarding the new numbers to your Google Voice? And calling on your Google Voice number?
Iunno the price, but you can search it quicker than reading my response. Yes to your last questions - the mint number should be treated like a "burner" phone and folks will still be able to reach you like any other number via call forwarding.

This plan is pretty good and $10 per month of 10GB per month. Since Mint supports eSim. I have this as my data SIM and main number on a physical sim. I swap out the eSIM whenever there is any offer. Heads up, Mint numbers usually comes with some baggage from the previous owner and expect lot of spam calls/previous friends reaching out.

I'm debating whether to do GV trick.

How do I get pin to port # to GV? They don't check IMEI right?
With Google voice you need to pay the $3 to Google to port out your number.

Then when you're providing the info to mint your account number is also your Google voice number and your pin is the same pin you setup for your voicemail.

I just activated my plan 6 days ago and that's what i provided and it activated my Google voice number immediately

Are you using mint to provide data for an LTE watch by any chance?

So you had mint before the BOGO promo, you were able to use it for 3 months, but then it didn't continue for the next 3 months?

My additional months came in no issue at all and i never had to contact them. Why did you contact them about the additional months, were you near the end of the 1st three or did you decide to call them immediately after purchasing the promo?

Most folks never reached out to mint asking about the additional months and just trusted that they'd come since its what they purchased.

You don't need to provide any information to mint. Perform activation online and you can always check your service details by just texting "MENU" to 6700

I dont mind having a new number, but do they check for device ID and block them if its been on network recently?
Yes as per Reddit posts. Any other way to make this work for existing customers?

Is there anyway to port your number out of mint to GV and then port in as new customer?

It seems like people are implying you can but no details. It seems like mint would block the same number or device.
When I joined Mint a year ago as a port from google Fi, the process was torturous and took a few days. Hours and hours with customer service for both providers. similar experience when porting my wife's number just a few days later. Just FYI.

I thought Mint checks for IMEI and bans devices to keep using promo offers

Does any one have experience with hotspot on Mint ? Also what kind of speeds do we expect considering it's a MVNO ?
I'm not quite sure of the exact speeds, but I worked most of the day from my mint hotspot joining multiple zoom meetings without a hitch yesterday
