I have settled on both. There's strengths and weaknesses to each and can't imagine dropping either. The cashback at Costco exec more than covers my
Membership. Sams we don't shop at as much but there are some items that are simply only there that we buy regularly like huge boxes of strawberry uncrustables and Smithfield bacon lol.

Quoted... "When you buy shrimp, whether fresh or frozen, the size designation isn't standard and its best to use count per pound. When you see 41/50 on the packaging of frozen shrimp, that means there are 41 to 50 shrimps per pound. U15 means there are less than 15 shrimps per pound. The fewer shrimps per pound, the larger they are. Here's a quick overview:"

Look at attached excel sheet. Also full article here [jessicagavin.com].

Wife bought it last week. It's much thinner compared to what Costco always carries, and does not absorb much water at all. I do not recommend it.

What's with all the costco postings? Am I missing out for being a Sams member?
Highly dependent on your area and quality of the local clubs.

My local Sam's is about 1/2 the size of every other Sam's I've seen so it's much more limited in what it has.

Meanwhile the local Costco is a normal Costco. It also carries Kirkland liquor. The prices on Costco liquor alone make the membership worth it.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that Costco customer service is a lot better than Sam's.

Kirkland Signature Alkaline Water 18/1 L - $9.99
Just as a PSA, alkaline water will only change the ph of your pee. Your gut acids neutralize that stuff

Same here, Costco exec and Sam's nobody!
I have both. I think Costco is way better, but only because Sams is 5 min from my house. Costco seems to do a better job with the quality and prices in general, including their food court. Exec member and credit card can pay for itself. However, unless you have a business or have a huge family I don't think anyone "saves" money buying bulk- You just end up buying extra that you don't really need. But that's the American way.

Btw- one thing that annoyed me was We had a Sams club here for 15 years and Costco came in about a year ago. All of a sudden Sams club prices dropped by 10-20 percent and they did a remodel. Kinda makes me mad they gouged us all those years. I may drop my Sams membership when it renews.

Bamboo paper towels -- based on all feedbacks from prior posts, seems like they are not good.
Costco knows this and no wonder they are selling it at $10 off -- bad buy on their part and clearing them out.

I found out last month that a friend uses paper towels to dry dishes. If you're using them just to pick up water, go to the automotive section at Costco and pick up a pack of the yellow microfiber towels. They're for drying your car off after you wash it, and are super-absorbent. I got them for the car, but they work so well that I've replaced most of my kitchen towels with them. Just toss the used ones in the laundry for re-use, and replace them with fresh ones.
You don't have an issue with lint coming off those towels? I wanted to use them around the house but the yellow link came off and got everywhere.

It could be due to very slight purchasing restraint, but hear me out: most Costco purchases have a fair amount of marketing behind them, in the name brands, or in the Kirkland "could actually be a relabeled name brand" product. As such, at least for us, getting everything we can at Aldi is significantly cheaper than Costco. I'll probably let my executive membership go back to a standard membership next year, then probably let it go the year after, switching to sam's when it has a free membership promotion, or just Walmart/Safeway for non-aldi items.

Has anyone done a thorough comparison of Costco vs Aldi? I've kicked around the idea of getting a Costco membership but from what I've read aldi has similar prices and no membership fee. And, it's closer so it's been a tough sell.

Long time Costco groupie here. Aldi would win in the long run $$$.

Our family prefers the beef and sausage. Also, there are two lasagnas vs one with the beef.
I personally prefer the beef and sausage however it is much spicier than the beef one so we never buy it anymore, but the beef one is great value for the $

Of course Aldi will come out ahead, but Aldi sells a relatively narrow product line. There are certain things I go to Aldi for though

These are facts you can rely on. Costco is king in the non food item category and hard liquor. Sams dominates food selection, herbs and spices and beer selection in 12 packs and some liquor deals. Agreed 100 💯
Don't forget open box items...I like shopping that section when there's stuff available
