Only the Platinum card. Also this is in-house cell phone insurance by Amex, Visa and Mastercard's cell phone insurance is administered 3rd party and they are a pain to deal with
To get coverage:
You must charge your monthly Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone bill to your Eligible Card Account. You are eligible for coverage the first day of the calendar month following the payment of your Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone bill using your Eligible Card Account. If you pay an Eligible Cellular Wireless Telephone bill with your Eligible Card Account and fail to pay a subsequent bill using your Eligible Card Account in a particular month, your coverage period changes as follows:
Seems to be AIG subsidiary, "Coverage is provided by New Hampshire Insurance Company, an AIG Company."

I submitted a claim for a cracked screen last month and just got the reimbursement check (minus the $50 deductible) yesterday. Calling the main number to start the process was pretty simple with them taking some basic information (what happened and when) then opening a claim and sending the required paperwork and items to be submitted via email. After seeing the email I was a little confused (receipt of original phone purchase???) so I called back and got some clarification. I ended up submitting-
1. PDF of Amex bill with my name and showing Wirless bill charge
2. Wireless bill showing my name and charge**
3. Receipt of repair from Apple
4. Screenshot from website showing my phone is on the account (since I paid it up front, the phone doesn't appear on the bill)
5. Completed claim forms
**I am not the primary on the plan but have a line so needed to jump through some hoops to get a screenshot of the account showing my name and number listed with the associated account.
If you're the primary on the wireless account and platinum card I think it should be fairly straightforward.
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks for the data point, it's very helpful. I've submitted a claim a few days ago, now waiting for approval. Account holder is the same for both wireless account and platinum card. But I sent a repair estimate, not the receipt, hopefully it should work too.

How long did it take for them to approve your claim package and then for a check to arrive? Did they notify you by email that your claim was approved?

Let me get this straight. I paid my tmobile bill on 3/29. Does that mean I'm eligible for now for phone insurance? If so this is perfect timing as I just shattered my screen this morning walking the dog!
howd it go?

Can you let me know what hoops you had to jump through as a non-primary? I'm in the same situation so it would be helpful to know what else needs to be done.

Things moved fairly quickly initially. I submitted and heard back within a few days via email that my claim was rejected (because of names not matching) and then it slowed down considerably with the claims adjuster and I exchanging voicemails.
I received a voicemail that it had been approved and I received the check within a couple days of that message so they should notify you via email or phone of status.

I think they are looking for the link between the Amex card member, the wireless bill, and the claimed phone.
Since I am not the primary on the account, my name is not on the wireless bill. I ended up calling TMobile, going to the store, and then ultimately going to Costco (where I had purchased the phone) and they were able to send me a screenshot of the account details where my name and phone were listed.

Hey. I submitted all the paperwork/forms and they said it takes about 4 weeks to process so I'm still waiting!

I searched the whole thread but wasn't able to get info on this.

Is there a list of eligible cell phone service providers I need to be with? How about prepaid services like redpocket etc?

TIA.

I believe the coverage is only available for postpaid phone service.

REI MC covers the protection if you pay the bills using their CC. My S8 stopped working. I filed a claim using the quote Samsung provided. It was $479. Deduction is $50. I got $429. Originally I had only paid $375 on a brand new S8. laugh out loud
By quote from Samsung do you just mean the listed price on their website or assuming s8 no longer sold on site ,how did obtain quote?

I do see question asked multiple times in this group but not noticed answer.... "Does it need to be only postpaid one or prepaid like mint, visible, metro are eligible as well" . Not sure if any one know answer to it or already asked Amex customer service
I believe someone posted prepaid is not eligible, which sucks because I am planning on buying an IPhone from Visible

You can buy insurance and still be way cheaper than "most" postpaid non family plans

Went to their center, they provided the quotation for repair. You have to have a valid quotation to be able to file a claim.

Just cracked my phone so the timing is perfect.

Wells Fargo customers, were you successful using the website to submit or should I do it over the phone?

Apple is charging $150 for glass repair on a 5 year old phone that has no trade in value. I'm wondering what other claims these programs cover? Can you file for dropping it and it not powering up again?
