Personally I'm interested in a new Bosch with a 3rd/top rack. Seems useful for getting more into the same load.

The 2nd appointment will have a local installer / contractor to hook the new unit up. Since my pipes and electrical are up to codes, so I just had to pay for my city permit.

No one would ever pay such a fee here even if the local government was foolish enough to require it. They would collect a grand total of zero dollars.

But KitchenAid's FreeFlex 3rd Rack is awesome. The FreeFlex rack has two built-in spray bars that rotate and do a great job at cleaning the glasses and mugs that lay at a slight incline on that FreeFlex rack. Unfortunately, you'll have to step up from this $500 slickdeal and pay closer to $1000-1200 for a unit that has the FreeFlex 3rd rack.
The amount of stuff I can put into our KitchenAid 404 series dishwasher is insane. To the point that we typically run the dishwasher much less during the week, because we can fit so much more in it. So not only does it use less water (~2.5gal for the normal cycle, vs 6gal for the previous dishwasher), but we're running it probably 30% less over the course of a week due to the increased interior volume.
But KitchenAid's FreeFlex 3rd Rack is awesome. How is it a lower spec model other than not having the 3rd rack?
No issues with my 800 series with cleaning. How dishes are loaded, detergent used and water temperature plays a factor as well.
+1 Every appliance thread is going to have someone posting a nightmare experience.
Not sure which model you have but the 2-year old 800 series model dries really well. No issues with filter cleaning (no tools required).
Detergent used is a factor. Also run Dishwasher Magic every now and then to clean the interior plumbing..
Mind telling me how to turn off the beep? There are no buttons or indicators on it that show it can be turned off and I dont have a manual.
