I bought a similar Costco deal in February. I called the local contractor the day prior to delivery. She tried to tell me there was no haul-away, which was incorrect. With some pressing and after waiting on hold, she obliged saying they'd only do it at no charge because it was for Costco. Day of, one guy delivered the appliance and 3 hours later a second guy came to install. I had removed the old dishwasher myself and was ready (note that they won't remove it for you). When the installer unboxed he found a fist-sized dent in the back of the new dishwasher and one of the adjustable plastic feet was broken off and then he dragged his feet and ultimately refused to install it. Long story short, Costco, who processes the order for Whirlpool to fulfill, has these shipped directly from Whirlpool, so when I called Costco customer service, they pawned me off on Whirlpool who scheduled a replacement delivery. I called Whirlpool the day before the replacement delivery and was assured everything was good to to go, then waited around for the 4 hour window and nobody showed up. I called Whirlpool and Costco and both said "Aw, gee, that unit is back ordered until May, whoops." So I installed the damned new-but-dented dishwasher myself and it's great, really like it, but holy cripes what a massive runaround and waste of my time.

And again, I just told the short version!
Kitchenaid is a very reputable brand in line with Maytag and owned by Whirlpool. I do not have experience with this particular model, but I do have Kitchenaid DW in my kitchen for last 7 years w/o a single issue. I use mine almost everyday.
Good brand. Bosch is another people should look at when shopping (I think Bosch tends to be the most quiet - they even have an indicator light so you can tell when it's running, since it's so quiet).

Personally I'm interested in a new Bosch with a 3rd/top rack. Seems useful for getting more into the same load.

Anyone have any install issues with costco installations? I'm pretty handy and installed my last dishwasher. I'd like to just install it when it arrives. Anyone know if costco will compensate if we don't use the install and haul away?

I live in Kettering, OH. Lowes charges an extra $ 150 for a permit, either city or county, to install a dishwasher. Best Buy does not charge. I first became aware of this in 2012. Bought another in 2017. Same policies.

I now buy my dishwashers at Best Buy.

Quote from Ben1966 :
I have never heard of anyplace requiring a permit to put in a dishwasher.

No one would ever pay such a fee here even if the local government was foolish enough to require it. They would collect a grand total of zero dollars.

How is it a lower spec model other than not having the 3rd rack?
Higher decibal rating / noise volume. Could just be more soundproofing on the 404, BUT, looking at interior photos, the entire drain / pump housing area on the 404 is different from the 104 series. So it could be that the lower noise rating on the 404 is from improved mechanical systems. And with the thought of the 404 having better mechanicals / pump unit, the 404 has the advanced water filtration system that Kitchenaid uses on their higher spec models, the 104 does not. See:

But you know you don't need me to do a comparison for you. Kitchenaid's website has a useful "Comparison" tool that allows you to compare their products against their other products in the same category.

Standard / generic third racks, I would tend to agree.

But KitchenAid's FreeFlex 3rd Rack is awesome. The FreeFlex rack has two built-in spray bars that rotate and do a great job at cleaning the glasses and mugs that lay at a slight incline on that FreeFlex rack. Unfortunately, you'll have to step up from this $500 slickdeal and pay closer to $1000-1200 for a unit that has the FreeFlex 3rd rack.

The amount of stuff I can put into our KitchenAid 404 series dishwasher is insane. To the point that we typically run the dishwasher much less during the week, because we can fit so much more in it. So not only does it use less water (~2.5gal for the normal cycle, vs 6gal for the previous dishwasher), but we're running it probably 30% less over the course of a week due to the increased interior volume.
Thanks. This looks new?

I don't recall when shopping for a dishwasher two years ago.

Mind telling me how to turn off the beep? There are no buttons or indicators on it that show it can be turned off and I dont have a manual.
Depending on how old it is, the manual should be on Bosch website. It's a configuration setting.

At 2 different houses. But I know one guy has 3 in his kitchen. Loved it when party. 10 people with 3 sets of wine glasses cleaned at once

I have delivery scheduled for Friday. I could've had it delivered as soon as two days after purchase but I wasn't ready for it.

Ours says 14th. Has yours shipped? / does the status change when it ships?
So far it just says order received.

You should receive a shipping notice. Maybe give them a call to ask.

I have the same question and I am thinking of doing the same specially if the install date is not the same as the delivery. Installing dishwashers is really easy.

The interior is still very wet after a cycle. Is it normal?
