This is true 100%

I had a back up tracfone, loaded for a years service that I kept in my car. Didn't use it for months and when I actually needed it, guess what it was deactivated. I called CS and they told me if the phone isn't being used on a semi regular basis they deactivate it. I told them this was AN EMERGEMCY PHONE THAT I PREPAID FOR A YEARS SERVICE and their reply was "sorry sir, that's our policy."

the code changed. i experienced this before and i had to start back at 5K to new customers. the web and app code merged a few months ago so there is no more double dipping. very shady move by TF
Ok, thanks. I will keep an eye on mine. I remember reading on a previous thread that the code starts changing each time after you hit a certain number of referrals, but that you stay at the level where you can give 8K to new customers. I cannot confirm that myself though.

And yes, I had that happen too where my app code reset as if I had not given out any referrals. Hopefully, that won't happen to the web code. I do miss the double dipping -- that was fun while it lasted.

This was 20 in December, and activated two of them, one after the other just after 3 months of purchase date, and went without much issue at all. Multiple sim will add cumulatively

This was a nightmare to activate when I bought it around Xmas for $20 from ebay. Customer service kept telling me this plan didn't exist even though I read them word for word what it said on the package. They said there was no way a sim came with a plan and that I needed to purchase one. Then customer service screwed me and attached the sim card number to an imei on one of my phone's and completely deleted the annual year plan and they couldn't do anything to refund me or get my plan back.
There was some issue I had activating 3 sims one after the other. Chat, simply opened a ticket in the background and took care of it without any effort from me. I am pleased with CS so far

How do I tell which carrier I have?
Send a text to your email address. You will then see what address it came from. Mine comes from (myphoneNumber)@vtext.com. If I go to vtext.com, that redirects to Verizon.

I had problems also. I had purchased 2 of these previously and had no problem adding them to my current account. IN Dec, it would not work. I went through 3 customer service reps and about 2 hours before I gave up and got a refund.

also, for people thinking about using this plan for an emergency back up phone, you have to use it at least once every 30 days or they will suspend it.

I don't believe your info is correct. I have been with Tracfone for years and my phone was never deactivated ever. I buy cheap tracfones at xmas time and also tracfone plans like this one in this room, and I am good until 2027 with service! I also would advise people if they are going to use Tracfone to buy during xmas time for best deals.

I just chatted with Tracfone again right before posting this, and was told, your service is good until 2027 and if I don't use my phone for a year it will never deactivate until 2027! I had tracfone in the car for 2 years without using it, and it still had the right minutes and worked. I just add new plan before old plan stops to keep it current. Now if your service ends, then yeah they will deactive it. Maybe you can chat with Tracfone to get latest info.
If you use up all the minutes but you still have data and texts, will they deactivate the account?

Not if you still have service time. You can always buy more of whatever you use most, check TF website for pricing & info.

yeah I've also not used minutes, data, or messages for more than a month and it stayed active

maybe they deactivate if you buy a 30 day card and it runs out, obviously to remain active you must keep up with cards and not lapse in coverage, regardless of usage

This is LINK to terms of service on Tracfones site that is current. https://www.tracfone.com/termsand...9fabafb50f

I did find this section , but it is dealing with:
.....
REFILLING YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE YOUR SERVICE END DATE. If you do not purchase and add airtime prior to the Service End Date, your Tracfone Service will be deactivated on the Service End Date and you will lose your phone number even if you have minutes remaining. To prevent this from occurring, please keep your Tracfone Service active by purchasing and adding an Airtime Cards on or before your Service End Date. Tracfone reserves the right to deactivate any phone for which there is no voice, text or data usage for a period of six (6) consecutive months for Smartphones and twelve (12) consecutive months for other phones. If your Service is deactivated, your Service can be reactivated by purchasing and adding an Airtime Card. Once reactivated, your phone may be assigned a new phone number. Airtime which remained unused at the time of deactivation will still be available if Service is reactivated within sixty (60) days from the deactivation date, otherwise any unused airtime will be lost.
......

Hard to tell what this means. It is confusing. I asked the rep yesterday if I don't make any phone call or text in 1-2 years, would the phone be deactived and I was told NO! My service is good until 2027.

Please provide LINK to where you copied and pasted that sentence. Thanks

Arny 56, this is how you do it. This is LINK to terms of service on Tracfones site that is current. https://www.tracfone.com/termsand...9fabafb50f

Now, Arny 56, do you see that sentence you quoted on current terms of service? I don't. If you do see it, post where on the page it is, there is a lot of sections and fine print. Smilie

Yes, I noticed that too. Rep told me if I didn't use the phone for 1 year or 2 years my service end date is 2027.

Frustrating when we are told different things. I called Rep yesterday just to find out the answer, and she told me wrong info , she told me I don't have to use the phone for 1-2 years, my service end date is 2027. Although I didn't use my smartphone for over 1 year without any activity and was not deactivated. "Reserves the right" is used many times in terms of service, they can screw with you and reserve the right to terminate service for tons of reasons.

I have 2 phones that I use for emergency purposes. To avoid the problems you run into, I occasionally make random calls to random numbers to keep the service active. TracFone is very flaky. Most of their agents would give you false information. Just last Wednesday I talked to someone in the corporate office, yes corporate, after an issue I had with the loyalty rewards program was escalated. The lady blatantly lied to me that my issue has been resolved and that the missing rewards points has been added to my account. She proceeded to read to the new "updated" total rewards points on my account which of course was the total I had before the issue. I simply gave up. I have better use for my time!
