Just a FYI, non-FDA approved mask are not tested for toxicity such as Formaldehyde and Fluorocarbons (PFCs).

we keep boxes of these in the lobby of our building in case you forget a mask on your way out, but they are particularly popular with our essential delivery workers who sometimes need a fresh mask in the middle of their shifts. at this price, why not put a box or two out to support these folks?
Disposable masks are the new plastic straws of the ocean

Even if it were N95 or these shitty ones, it's meant to be a 1 time use. It's never meant to be cleaned. Unless you have the cloth ones. The disposable ones, why in the world would you want to reuse it. It's pennies for each one? Also, I don't want to risk any possible infection. It's the same thing, why you don't want to wear your used underwear after you taken a shower? Then again, with how this country is going base on how people are acting. Who knows.. Well.. at least I don't.
There are times to be frugal, but this is not one of those items. Just for the sake of discussion, none of the medical field people (doctors, nurses, etc) reuse a n95 or shitty ones like these. These people have been using mask for ages since it was invented. COVID fallout was only around 2 years. So... you tell me.
Actually, in some places, physicians *do* reuse N95 masks. I was on the pulmonology floor of a public hospital in Peru working exclusively with TB patients where it was routine to reuse N95s. Some countries just didn't have the supplies and equipment we had pre-COVID, and once the pandemic hit we realized we in the US weren't as shored up as we thought we were either.
These cheapies have rigid metal nose form. Uncomfortable. Better off getting actual medical grade and spend 10 cents more per mask. Wayyyy more comfortable. Almost all masks found on mckessons site can be found on eBay or Amazon https://mms.mckesson.com/catalog?...11&sort=Po

I don't think that $12.99 is a good deal; $3.70 is an insane deal, but that didn't happen.
I think the deal for $4.99 is very good price from other vendors.
My local supermarket is selling for 3.99 already 🤣
Masks for protection is only as good as the SEAL around the perimeter for your protection.
No matter the quality of the material itself, if air can get around the edges, you are moving air in/out which may have viral particles.
The reason N95 or N99 mask work well is not only due to the material used but the FIT around the perimeter of the mask.
These cloth and this surgical mask DO NOT seal well on the perimeter and is only recommended by CDC as it is Better than Nothing. The material itself is not as good and the seal is bad. But they do help reduce spread by catching your exhalation breathe from mouth/nose.
To get a good seal, the straps need to be the type which go around the head NOT the ear loops. Ear loops do not provide enough anchoring force to form a proper fit. Properly loops, seal, and material WILL protect properly against particles.
As stated before, the vaccines out are not 100% effective nor proven to guard against all variants. The effectiveness of the vaccines is derived statistically. The control groups used to state and back up effectiveness % do make certain assumptions about certain population.
No one is being given the vaccine, and then the virus given to them directly to directly assess effectiveness.
With all that said, it's probably not a bad idea to stock up on properly SEALING masks during summer and expect cases to go up again towards winter.
