Any pointers on size of drop I should get ? I have 11ft ceiling. But top of ceiling to garage rail is 33 inches m. Other side of garage is free.
I installed the larger drop size (24-48") over my garage rails with no issue. My ceiling is 10'-9" and I also have about 33" from ceiling to garage rail.

This deal reminded me that I bought these last time they were on sale lol. Still sitting in my garage somewhere unopened 🤡
Then you should definitely get in on this deal so you have a place to store that.

These are great. I ordered a rack when I was fixing up my garage last year. One thing to note is that the instructions only give you steps based on ideal scenarios of your ceiling joists (studs). If you don't have a perfect scenario, one thing you can do is have one set of the steel bars that attach to the ceiling going one way, and the others going perpendicular. That way your second set of bars can hit the joists no matter which way they end up being at.

How? Do the posts not interfere with the path of the door? I ordered the next size down because my rails are at 33" from the ceiling.

Any tips on finding joists in the ceilings?
Pick up one of these: HART Professional 9-LED Stud Finder [walmart.com]

I've installed these shelves two different times and the second time I had the Hart stud finder and it made finding the middle of the stud way easier

I'm sure each install is different. My garage rails connect to the wall at the front of the garage and to the ceiling in the middle of the garage. The rack is just installed over the rails toward the front of the garage and doesnt interfere. I have it set at about 32 inches from the ceiling.

Thank you! Makes sense. I wasn't thinking about single car doors.

If you're talking about the wire "shelving" that lays flat on top, then yes it does.

I have 1960 home with plaster ceiling. Can I hang these?
In an older home I'd be surprised if your garage ceiling joists are running in a way that works with this system. The system assumes regularly spaced joists which were often not the case in older garage construction (especially garages compared to homes; regardless of whether they were attached or not). I had a home original to 1897 with a garage added in the 70s and it was completely incompatible with a system like this, the only way I could have hung it would have been right after the top of the door track (hence right in the middle of the garage) as there was no place near a wall where the joist spacing worked for these. If they're 4x8 they probably assume 16" joist spacing which was not the norm for garage ceilings until fairly recently.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/FastenMa...nt/3295058 I used these types of screws after having a couple of the supplied lag bolts break with 1/2" to go and the holes were predrilled. I installed them a couple years ago and the supplied lags at the time were crappy. Hopefully they upgraded the hardware...

I would like to add that these are pretty big. I was only able to use one because my Jeep hardtop is hanging from the other part of my garage. My bet is I could sell the other shelf to get at LEAST half my money back.
