Make sure to remember to take into consideration that these use the usb 2.0 standard. Terrible for docking stations or any type of data transfer. Fine for charging.

Mix and match however you want from the following list as long as the total is over $29.96 before discount. You get $4.99 off each product. There appears to be a limit of 2 of each products.

The answer is most likely profit. As long as they continue to manufacture 2.0 cables, they can continue to mark up and sell 3.0 cables at a higher price. If they eliminate 2.0 from the picture, then 3.0 will no longer be considered "premium" since there will be no reference point for comparison. Consumers usually like to have the "better" or "best" thing. Same reason every company in every industry releases different tiers (ie. basic vs plus vs premium) of similar, if not the same, products/services at each rollout.

Seems a lot of the arguing / conspiracy about USB C 2.0 vs. 3.x C to C cables are ignoring the fact that 2.0 only requires 2 pairs of wires, whereas 3.0 will be double that. There is definitely a market (and I don't see it going away for a long time) for higher wattage, though 2.0 limited, C to C cables... with the important caveat that they aren't obnoxiously thick, aren't stiff AF, or can handle 60, 100+W it at longer lengths. Cost goes up significantly when you're literally doubling the wiring necessary, plus other costs such as thick or better quality jackets and/or more costly connector pcb's. Though with that said, I do think USB 2.0 PD cables do tend to be overpriced, at least by their MSRP's, like just about all cables in the market, and I typically only buy when they go on sale like this.

For my PD power banks, wall, and car chargers, these are the cables I'm looking for. Look at the cost of TB3/4 cables and tell me there's no market for these. And look at the length to bandwidth constraints of thunderbolt cables and how thick they tend to be... USB C 3.x + PD capable cabling can be analogous to TB constraints, though not as strictly. Hopefully that helps someone to understand.

tl;dr - yes they're typically overpriced, no they're not completely pointless and/or obsolete, there are and will continue to be use cases for USB C to USB C 2.0 cables (lightweight, high wattage PD capable), and if you fall under that use case just get them while they're on sale.

I have had issues with Monoprice usb c cables. They took care of it with the lifetime warranty but still defective out of the package. Also they started scalping video cards so they turned off a long long time customer from doing business with them.

You doubled down on flawed market conclusion. Any old or startup cable manufacturer could spot a market opportunity and move in on the USB-C 3.0 PD opening left over in the marketplace. It's that simple. That majority of the market wants USB-C with 3.0 and PD.

This is old design, on old molds and dies, being repackaged as PD capable. There's a market for these, though I suspect that lots of people are buying out of ignorance. And lots of people have a specific use for charging only.
Ok, let me just take advice on global markets from someone who doesn't know the difference between "your"/"you're" and "between"/"among". You think you speak for everyone? 🤡

USB 2.0 PD cables are equally capable for simple charging purposes. And no, these cannot be "old design on old molds" since USB Type-C wasn't designed until late 2014 and adopted by the IEC in mid-2016 along with USB 3.1. Even with that being said, Type-C connectors weren't implemented on mainstream devices until late 2018, so it's unlikely that manufacturers entered the market before its adoption was proven and impossible that the cables are more than a few years old.

Regardless of the reason why people buy things, if they do, then there's a market. Now you're saying there IS a market for them? Make up your mind. 😂

Is 60w strong enough to charge a HP Envy 360x laptop?

Their charger is 65W. So wondering if 5W is just slower.

Is there a way to tell if a c-c cord supports USB 2.0 or 3.1? I have a bunch lying around that either I have purchased or came as a part of a device. Now I have no idea which one to use for file transfers!

Thanks I ordered one not realizing the USB 2.0 and then immediately thought of the charging question. I'm keeping my order because I only need it for charging.

How'd you get $7.99? The coupon doesn't seem to work for that.

It was the listed price at the time I posted that message, no coupon necessary.
