The Samsung A7 is a WEAK tablet that is slightly slower or about the same as the Fire HD10 (which I got for $60ish) after you disable all Amazon apps using Amazon Tool Box.
Also, don't expect Lenovo to upgrade the operating system (OS), so Android 12 is meaningless.
But is 6GB of RAM enough... YES. IMHO, 4Gb is enough. And harddrive space size is really dependent on your needs.
I have said it before, if you can wait... I would want to see what the Xiomio Mi Pad 5 is like. The Mi Pad 5 is suppose to have killer specs but the screen may not be as good as this one... but almost as good.
Also, this is a SnapDragon 662... and this CPU is not that great. There is the "iplay 40" that has much better specs but can not play netflix, prime vidoe, disney in HD. But can play games better and will be less sluggish then this mode on sale.

I don't know exactly how much faster the A7 is to the Fire HD as it's hard to find direct comparisons between the two chipsets but the gap shouldn't be huge. They could trade blows but the A7 should in theory be slightly faster.

So what will slow you down is bloatware.... if you use Amazon tool box, you can eliminate the bloatware but you can never eliminate the bloatware in a Samsung unless you install a 3rd party OS (if possible).
I personally feel both these CPUs are to slow if you are looking to buy something that is future proof for about three Plus years.
And the Snapdragon 662 is not considered midrange today... it is more low end or the bottom of the midrange.

And regarding a Chinese Tablet that is WideVine L1 supported... this is an issue. It's actually a bigger issue then you think and I thing GOOGLE (who own widevine L1) needs to be sued by a class action law suit. THE ISSUE IS... most companies will give you security updates for 2 or 3 years... then your up SHITS CREEK. But, there is a fix... Lineage... and if you are tec savy enough to install Lineage (or other 3rd party android OS) your tablet loses the WideVine L1 support. So as far as I know, there is no tablet with Lineage that supports HD content from streaming services that use WideVine L1.
I am hoping for HUGE sales again for Samsung Tab 7 but when it happens and you buy one... how much longer will you get updates?

the SD662 is a LOW END CPU.

Ended up picking up the Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus tablet to tide me over for now (have till July 4th to return it). Got it today and used Fire Toolbox to de-Amazon it. That was super easy. Set up Google Services, Nova Launcher and happy with it so far. I know it's last years CPU, but the 4GB of Ram def make it seem "snappier" then the A7. If Prime Day has a huge sale on it I'll pick that up and return this one. If not, this can tide me over till there's a good Samsung sale. Just can't justify spending over $500 for my uses (checking Feedly in the morning, keeping tabs on games, or movies/TV shows when I'm traveling).
Didn't realize this tablet was a lower end CPU, the reviews were pretty good on it. It's a shame Lenovo has such a bad rep regarding updates, cause this would have been a contender for me.

Also I don't think I can get rid of all Samsung's bloat and that could be why the firehd10 runs better.... After xda tool box, I only left prime video and the kindle store.... Disabled everything else. And I use gboard for my keyboard.
My old Lenovo tab 4 had a very clean OS.
Use the microsd card for media only... Do not install any apps.
