Only questioned if it was my display because I did read reports of faulty units on launch. It's just odd because objects (in game) that are "further away" seem to be more in focus. I would think everything should be blurry if it's just my eyes because isn't everything technically on the same plane (screen) anyway?
Anyone here use glasses with it? Have success? From what I understand I'll need the lens adapter (spacer) correct?
I use glasses but I scratched the lenses of both the Oculus and my glasses. I was able to replace the Oculus easily because I went through Costco. So use some sort of lense protectors such as these from Amazon if your going to use glasses.

I think a little god rays is normal and text that is not in the center view will appear blurry some. You can see some examples online such as this page to compare what is bad vs normal.

Also check to see if your Oculus is one of the few that had not so good lenses to begin with such as descussed in some forums such as here.

RMA it.
Also agree about people hearing what I'm doing even with the volume at a reasonable level (30-40%). Headphones are great if you want it to be immersive. I have no idea about these, but cable management is a bit of a pain with regular headphones, so I might try these. Thanks OP!

AH HA! Thank you! That's what I was trying to get at... I knew some were indeed effected.. will definitely check that link to see if indeed mine is out of that "bad batch".
Considering this is my first experience with VR, I really didnt know what to expect... super helpful info... Trully appreciated!
Going to run that test (in the link you gave) to see what I'm working with. š
I agree with others that maybe you got defective lenses or something. I've got both the Quest 1 and Quest 2, and this has not been my experience. You do need to adjust the IPD (how far apart the lenses are), and the Quest 2 is not quite as adjustable as the 1 - but that hasnt' been a problem for most people.
God rays in all headsets are pretty normal when there's a lot of dark/black on the screen, but when you're in-game, they're not really noticeable at all. I mostly notice them during startup sequences when it's just a logo on the screen.
I'd definitely suggest, if you're having these problems, that you try and exchange your Quest!

Yes, adjusted the IPD... It helped a little but (as for now) it's really been bad. I would like to exchange it (just to make sure) but I'm already way out of the Target (store) return period.
Guess I could always deal with a manufacturer return but ughhh...
As far as the spacer.. Are you referring to that optional kit that can be ordered. I literally haven't reopened the box since day one... forgot if a spacer was included in the box. Either way, I'm going to try that as I REALLY wanted this to work out.

If you need glasses in real life, you need glasses in vr. I'm nearsighted and can't see anything with the headset on. I bought 3rd party lenses for my prescription and they work great. You can also just wear your glasses in the headset but it's uncomfortable and you risk damaging the lenses.
Yes, that's the thing.. admittedly my eyes aren't great so I should be starting there of course.
Was just a bit worried because some seem to be having similar issues as above. Also couldn't figure out why some items were indeed tack sharp and others blurry even if it was my eyes. Seems strange but what your saying about needing glasses IRL then you need em in VR.
