I bought these years ago, like 5 or 6 now. They were awful compared to my eneloops. On a full charge they'd die within hours, whereas the eneloops would last for a month or longer. It was pathetic.

Maybe they're better now, but no way I'd risk it. Was a waste of money before.
I've purchased these a few months ago. They die super quick. Both AA and AAA.
These are going to be far more economical in the long run. A minimum of 500 charge cycles means this is equal to 8,000 dollar store batteries. If you are concerned about the cost of the charge, just factor in the cost of driving back and forth to the dollar store for 8,000 batteries.

See a lot of reviews point to Eneloop as the go-to brand -- is that the case for rechargeables these days?
I haven't purchased any non eneloops outside of laddas from ikea, which are the same. For what it's worth I've never had a single issue with any of the batteries. All work great and hold charges years into use.

The 24 pack of 2,400's were $29 a few months ago. I tend to think that was a better deal. I bought them because my kid got 3 RC cars for Christmas and they all required 4-8 AA batteries. I can't speak to these compared to Eneloop like so many have referenced as I have never used those, but see they are quite a bit more expensive. I have also read that the Ikea ones are made by Eneloop.

It's 2,000 mAh for sure. If you combined the capacity of all 16 batteries together.

These are completely worthless. Stick to Eneloop or IKEA Ladda (made in Japan).

You're safe with Japanese nimh batteries. Stay away from the made in China stuff.

When first released years ago they were decent batteries. Amazon has repeatedly switched suppliers becoming worse and worse with each branding. Now they have short run times and can only be charged a few time.

Absolute cheap china junk.

Seriously, its worth spending a few more dollars and jumping on the Eneloop deals when they pop up. You'll save time, money, and frustration in the long run.

Unless you really love the earth, 20.00 can get you 120 AA batteries at the Dollar Store - this is the real Slickdeal.
By the time you get to the 20th battery, they'll all be leaking and/or dead. Cheap low quality batteries are no slick deal.

I am waiting for the 2400 version to drop the price
The higher capacity ~2400 mAh batteries are not low self discharge. Very few applications would benefit from the higher capacity but high self discharge of those cells. For comparison, low self discharge can hold the bulk of its charge for over a year. High self discharge maybe a month, and as they age it gets far worse. The reason is that to increase capacity, they have to make the separation membrane thinner. That allows more current to leak from anode to cathode (aka self discharge).

20$ right now for 100 AA or AAA batteries with TAKETEN and a ten year lifespan.
From the reviews, those will last a lot longer than these rechargeables.

Eneloops are still great, but pricey. I've liked using Ikea LADDA (which tested well with Project Farm) [youtube.com], and they'd performed better than Chinese-made rechargeables, which seem to underperform compared to their rating.

IKEA LADDA rechargeables are eneloops in disguise

Whenever I run into this problem it's usually because the device requires a 1.5 volt battery, while most rechargeables are 1.2v
There are now lithium cells in AA form factor. They have electronics embedded that regulate the lithium 3.7v down to 1.5v. That will work well in devices that expect the full 1.5v of traditional alkaline instead of 1.2v from NiMH. They're pricier but usually have built-in USB charge ports. The number of charge cycles may be better than NiMH.

Good enough for toddler toys that are not that important IMO.

In 4 16-Count $18.42 Total.

What the hell... I was in the middle of setting up the subscription and the page is gone. Refresh the product page, and the subscription option is gone too. Assholes.

2016 I got 12pack AAA from amazon basic rechargeable and still runs fine today, holds charge does not die. I charge using the Sanyo eneloop 6 hours charger and battery pack I got from costco years ago.
