"High performance alkaline batteries". What a joke.

Seriously, once I went eneloop over a decade ago I haven't gone back to alkaleaks. For things that need the higher 1.5 volts alkaline cells provide I use lithium. No leaks, no disappointments.

I think most things label 1.5v required. How do I know whether it's safe to use eneloop for them? I read that some cheap electronics might catch fire for using eneloop due to higher amp (or something else)?
WTF did you hear that nonsense? NiMH (including eneloops) have no higher chance of fire than alkaline. They can't dissipate enough power to catch fire. I guess if you purposely built a contraption out of nichrome wire you could generate some heat. I've used rechargeables in all my devices for over a decade and never had any heat issues

If you're wanting just cheap batteries, dollar store carries 6 packs, which comes out cheaper price per battery then this.

Right, because if you don't see it happen, it must not be true 🙄

I was really disappointed in these AAA batteries. The Sunbeam ones at Dollar Tree ($1/8 pack) seem to last way longer than these do in my Roku remote, and are much cheaper.

TL;DR Amazon's current gen rechargable and alkaline are absolute bottom of the barrel GARBAGE regardless of where they were made and in what sweatshop.

As for made in China, it's more of quality and reputation. So I have THREE generations of Amazon rechargeables:

1. Gen 1 - Made in Japan (rebranded eneloops). Those have not had a single failure and all are still within 90% of spec. A few have had rising IR, but they are 4-5 years old.
2. Gen 2 - Made in China (green/white) top. I bought an 8 pack of these before I realized they were no longer eneloops. However not a single one has let me down and all are still with IR under 40 and charging to 100% or more of capacity. 3-4 years old.
3. Gen 3 - Made in China - The gray tops. These are absolutely CRAP. I had numerous failures and I also bought C grays (5000 mAh) that literally last 2 weeks before they hit voltage limits. I am in dispute on those. I replaced w/ RayOVac alks which work perfectly in my soap dispensers. The profile of the AA grays were not 100% of charge and already out of the bat IR of 50 or higher.

I have had the same experience w/ Amazon on alkaline. The white/orange not a single issue, the new ones are also hot garbage. If I buy alkaline now (for the few that do need them), I go to Harbor Freight (orange thunderbolts) or rayovac which I have had minimal leaking.

I stocked up on Ikea Laddas and let me tell you, they are the bomb. All are over rating and not a single one more than 20 mohm of IR. Buy them while you can (most can get only online). Still made in Japan. So I am good for the next 10 years Smilie

I attempt to locate each piece of equipment into which these leakers were installed and replace them with a different brand.

Well I would have thought these batteries were great up until I opened my kids RC spider and found one of the batteries had ruptured.

Ikea rechargeables are performing way better than my Eneloops by a wide margin. Ikea alkaline batteries are a good deal too with good performance, but they do tend to leak over time. Nothing catastrophic but just annoying.

I also got some EBL AAA rechargeables that I really like for the price.

I second EBL. Bought AA, 9v, and D NiMH rechargeables and they're all solid. The D cells are rated at 10,000 mAh (!!!) and have the heft to reflect that. I haven't been able to run capacity tests on them since my testing gear is set up for AA's, and they may not even register 10,000+ mAh. But from observations in an outdoor motion spotlight, they've held up impressively through the winter.

This 15¢ a battery if you buy 150. Better deal than that 100 pack. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasi...th=1&psc=1
If you notice also the 150 and up are the INDUSTRIAL Alkaline. Not sure if that's a step up or what. Just a FYI. Seems to be a better price point.

"Industrial" is pure marketing.

Duracell Industrial AA and AAA batteries are *exactly* the same cells as Duracell coppertops; they are just branded and packaged for bulk users. They are not higher power, longer life nor more durable.

Agree... most everything is marketing. More times than not is just about paying more for a better NAME not necessarily a "SUPERIOR" Product. PRIVATE labels are made by many of the same manufactures that produce the MAJOR labels (just slightly adjusted formulas/designs).
