Have to be a member, I just printed out the form, with what I wanted, no haggle,1100 below invoice. I bought a toyota avalon 11.1% below msrp in these times some high level edition vehicles are excluded, like trd packages on camry and 4runner. If need extended warranty you can shop around, New Hampshire has some dealers with no taxes too.
40,731 msrp nightshade edition was 36,271
I was a top sales and leasing associate back in 1992 during the gulf war and recession, max back then was 11% so I felt good getting value. Once I had this deal with a deposit other places were beating it by 400ish I decided since 5 minutes away just stick with it.

Got a steal of a deal on a barely used (500 miles) toyota avalon hybrid.
I've tried out the Costco program. It's probably the best car buying service, but I always got a better deal negotiating with dealers over email and pitting them against one another. That's the approach you see recommended most often on SD.

Could you tell me more about this strategy? And I am assuming you are talking about used car dealers?
This is for new cars (you can't buy used through the Costco program).
The basic strategy is you get offers from multiple dealers and use the lowest one to negotiate the price down with other dealers, rinse, repeat. There are lots of guides out there. Here is an ancient SD thread about it.
Basically a fully loaded car. While I would agree pitting dealerships against each other, there comes a point to diminishing gains and who has the time for that? If I could have negioated maybe another 1k off it might have been worth it but if it took longer than a day, well I will just print out the costco "coupon" and get my price.
