They got a pretty nice, quad dac in here, with amplification to drive some pretty powerful headphones that other devices or bluetooth wouldn't be able to.
Dual screen is a nice extra, I do use it much more than I expected to - it's nice to have completely separate screens for multitasking and watching videos.
Finally, the battery is incredible. It's advertised to have a 4000mah battery, but the most interesting thing was that when I first bought it (over a year ago), my accubattery app showed a 4500mah battery estimate. Basically, the battery was larger than advertised, and it definitely showed in longevity. Even today, an entire year later, I'm at 4200mah effective capacity, and can go 2 days of pretty regular use without even thinking about recharging.
Downsides? Not much for this phone alone - it does everything I need, from music, to apps, to games, to just browsing the web.
THAT SAID: there's one thing to keep in mind about this phone - these days you can get the LG V60 thinq, basically the successor to this phone, with the dual screen accessory, for around $400. The deals for the V60 may be fewer and further between, but I've seen it at costco for $400 with the dual screen, and it took all of my willpower to not buy it then and there. Wait a bit, and you'll have a chance to get what's basically an upgrade in every way over the G8x, for around the same price. The G8 and G8x are pretty good phones. Not sure why others are complaining of lag. Maybe they should wait for Snapdragon 2000...but then they'll still complain. Oh well...
The thing on android phone is the update from manufacturer on product to make the security os of the phone etc run better, google have notthing to do with that update.

Other than that, its a pretty nice phone. I don't use the dual screen often but when I do, its really helpful. I get 10~ on screen time pretty consistently which seems good compared to others.
Rooting/moding seems limited tho which sucks. I want to change what the google assistance button does

If you bought it unlocked it may still be tied to the original carrier in that it won't update without the right SIM in it; check your model number and see which carrier originally sold it, an ATT phone needs an ATT network SIM to pull the update. You can get a cricket prepaid sim and pop that in there then try the update again
That person has a version with a canadian rom and different model number than what is being sold. This one will work with Tmo.

The phone showed as incompatible with EVERY carrier, as it didn't support VoLTE. LG told me the same thing that the phone is capable and has the necessary bands for VoLTE, but didn't say that the carrier has to enable this.
My advice is to replace the phone asap if it's showing incompatible by IMEI compatibility check instead of trying to fix it.
