Up to 830 is because if you buy 12mini it will have trade in credit or only $730 and not $830 and it you buy 12pro or pro max then you will only get $830 and rest will be on you. That's what upto $830 means so yes iPhone 8 will get you upto $830 depending on the device you choose
Where is Costco? They use to have similar deal as Tmobile but not lately. Wonder if we didn't kill the golden goose by canceling "new line" after getting the rebate.
For those of you trying to get a phone from SWAPPA like a iPhone 8 or S9 series, make sure you do order from an individual seller where the item/images clearly display the listing number.

In that case it's a unique listing offer and the IMEI will be displayed on the sales page right after your purchase. If you order good quality or spend $10 more for mint you should be golden. Once purchased on the sales page you will see the serial number (IMEI):

If you order from an enterprise seller with generic images and none displays the unique listing number the IMEI will NOT show up and you may have to wait until they are back in the office on Monday and the deal could be over.

For Costco deal,

Do I have to pay everything upfront, right? Otherwise, I won't get the rebate. It will be bill-credit. Right?

If I do installment plan, will it be bill-credit ? NO Rebate?
you do not pay for the phone up front.

you pay taxes upfront

How much do they check the phones? I have an iPhone 7 Plus that works, but there is a problem with the earpiece. If you make a call with headphones/earpods it works fine. But if you try to make a call or answer a call without another earpiece being used, it just drops the call. Would they test this? Is this something they could find after the fact and screw me? Or is it OK?

Not trying to scam them. I'm sure they go either to e-waste or to be refurbished anyway.

a few people said that Costco is sold out

Keep in mind, they have to ship the phone to you. But those seem to be out of stock.

Went to my local Costco in Los Angeles about 10 mins ago, the rep at the kiosk showed me the error that prevents them from ordering. He states it's sold out nationwide.

From what i noticed yesterday they jus look at the phones check to see if there's any cracks….then the associate asked for help and the manager came she seemed to put some light to the phone and maybe she plugged one to check if it's charging or into some sort of device. But that was jus one phone….once you sign I don't think they can screw your later.

Come on Confused

$34.59 - $25.34 = $9.25/month you'll pay for your iPhone 12.

Thanks! When I did a similar deal for iPhone 7 in 2017, I think he had to take my phone to the back for some reason, I guess to plug it in. But I know there is an app that I saw on a repair channel on YouTube (can't remember the name) that goes through and tests a ton of things. Not sure if they had similar - maybe hardware.
