These are awesome little fans for the money.
If you are going to run it 24/7 then consider something more efficient... but I use this at level 3 and usually maybe only 2 or 3 hours/day. So... at 32 watts for 3 hours a day, I can use it for over 10 days for about 11 cents... I guess that's a little over 1 penny a day or a little over $3.65 per year if I used it year round, but probably only use it 6 months out of the year at best, making it about $1.83/year... or double it if you want to account for the heat which brings it back up to $3.65/year.
UPDATE: Oh hell, well if this little Vornado is only $42.50 then it makes a lot of sense to spend a little more money especially if you run it a lot......

I actually love the Vornado fans. I just picked up one of the $40 ones they have, but the Vornado you're referring to has no oscillation, timer, breeze pattern, or remote. And no Costco lifetime warranty. 😉
That $40 Vornado I just picked is really powerful and quiet for it's size. It tilts up and down but no oscillation or remote. I went ahead and bought it at the regular price knowing it will sell out once it gets warm. It should serve it's purpose and location well.
Note, the Vornado is $10 cheaper in-warehouse:

No, you're just bad luck and got a bad one. 😀 We bought 3 of these and they are all whisper quiet on the lowest 2 settings. Exchange it when you feel lucky.
