Thanks I got the 5900X from microcenter yesterday. I went there, there is nothing available in the shelf, and I asked the rep to check and he said they have it in stock and he gave me a paper to show it in the checkout.
I know AMD has been king for a while, but computer prices is way too crazy, and i'm looking to upgrade from an almost decade old rig, so i assume anything would be an upgrade (coming from a 4770k)
for a price performance stand point, would the 5600x be better or, i also see from microcenter , the i5-11400k for 170?
If you're keeping your current system for another 10 years, then I'd go with the AMD because the lower power consumption will give you 10 years of savings on your electric bill... so I'd say it's probably the faster and cheaper choice long-term.
Is there much of a difference between 5600x and 5800x? I'm starting to get into the pc building after getting a 3080. Good motherboard to pair?
there isn't much difference for gaming. there are still only a few that will leverage the extra two cores in the 5800x. the 5800x was sort of the odd one out where if you are just gaming, the 5600x is the best bang for buck, and for cpu intensive workloads, people opted to pay the extra for the 5900x or 5950x. at $400, it's still in an awkward position, but if you're in the camp "i need 8 cores to futureproof" then i guess it might be worth it.
for a motherboard, you would want either b550 or x570 to take advantage of the pcie gen 4 speeds. i would recommend going for one that simply has the features that you need (form factor, usb ports, m.2 slots, pcie slots, wifi, rgb, etc. etc.).
can i use x470 mobo with these? thinking about upgrading my 2700x
for x470, that might depend on your specific motherboard - whether the manufacturer released a bios update for your board that would allow compatibility with zen 3 chips.
if so, you'll want to update your bios before sticking in a zen 3 chip.
How much of an increase would I see going from 2600x to 5600x? 3070 gpu
honestly that's going to depend heavily on the game and the resolution you play in. i found this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_5nqVfkRqU
hopefully that answers your question or at least gives you an idea.

I tho k the 5600x would be better for me by the sounds of it. Thank you for the recommendations on the motherboard. Any thoughts on how the 5600x compared to the i5-11600K?

technically the 5600x performs better, but by a small margin (practically negligible at 1440p). where the 5600x really shines is power efficiency (65w vs 125w+): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbch8LW-Bz0

It was always 5900x and 5950x being sought after so the rest are kind of spared (5600x on and off)

while i'm at it, any good ITX mobo recommendation to go with either build? https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif thanks!

Remember when Intel meant something? Now they are left off to side in random posts that no one cares about. Bigly sad.
