You can also just plug a usb into your base and use local storage. Avoiding the cloud fee program. Took me less than 5 minutes to setup.

Free cloud storage went away back in 2020. If you already have an existing system you can add these cameras to an existing account and continue to get free storage. If you have never had an account you will have to pay for cloud storage. It's $5 per camera a month or $100 for up to ten cameras if you pay an entire year upfront.
They should give you free Cloud Storage if you have an Amazon Prime account, already pay a fortune for that now they want to charge additional for cloud storage?

Please, PLEASE note that this only works on the Sync Module 2, which DOES NOT come with these cameras. Sync module 2 only comes with the new Blink line (or purchased separately), not the XTs or XT2s. The USB-A port on the Sync Module 1 literally does nothing.

Reolink systems do, that is what I have, I have the Reolink RLN8-410-E system and have 8 of the 5MP cameras on it, it works awesome and has a local NVR that comes with a 1tb drive preinstalled but I upgraded to a 4tb drive and have never had any issues. Works with Android, iOS, Windows and Mac OS'es. While it is not a wireless system, it is POE and only requires the CAT5/CAT^ single cable for audio/video/power. Took me about 2 hours to run all 8 cables and have never had to touch it since
You have to be joking. 2 hours to run 8 cables and never touched it since? Sounds like hyperbole. Realistically I assume it took at least 4 hours and you've had to fix things or reset cameras more than once.

If there are any previous Blink account users out there that have migrated to other systems. Talking people pre-2020, that would offload their account to me that would be sweet. Hit me up directly

The delayed recording problem that all these systems have is due to the use of infrared sensor. It detects motion using the infrared sensor first since it uses less battery (so only object that gives away heat or block heat reflection). This detection happens on the whole frame so it doesn't consider your detection zone at all. Once it detects infrared changes, it then turns on the camera to capture footage and look for changes in video frames in the zones chosen. By the time this is all done, fast moving objects is long gone. The might be okay for ppl walking up to your door. But objects farther away or fast moving objects are really suboptimal....

Yea I was thinking that. I am done with Blink period. I signed up like 4 days after the cutoff for free recording. I couldn't return the cameras in time and now I am stuck. True or not, they made me feel robbed which means I will never use them again..

On to my real question. Are there any other systems that are free out there? Like real free. I would pay more for hardware to avoid the endless subscription model everyone seems to be going to. I feel like all the companies claimed to be avoiding alarm system models, but now they have all adopted it.

I feel bad for people that just missed the cutoff. I got my first two at the beginning of 2019, then bought 4 more when they were selling them all off ~6 months ago(?) because I saw the opportunity to surround my house with pretty decent, cheap cameras, and have free storage already. I really like mine, it's a shame they went away from that model. I don't think anyone would have blamed them for jacking up the price of the cameras to keep free storage, but they are owned by amazon now.

I purchased and had my account set up before 2020 with free cloud storage, but I am only using 2 out of the 3 cameras that came. If I decide to add the 3rd one now, will it also have free cloud storage?

Decent deal. Two-camera kits in "acceptable" condition were sold by Woot in April of last year for $70. So $100 for a two-camera kit "very good condition" now seems like a reasonable deal, especially if your account is grandfathered into the 60 days of free cloud storage.

Yes but It is extremely gimped. I have a 256 gb USB and the minute my trial expired the app becomes awful. You lose a lot of features and they make it to where accessing videos takes a much longer time over usb. The app became almost miserable to use and I'm pretty sure it doesn't wipe over itself like many dashcams and other camera systems do so you have to manually format it on a computer once it is full.
Not my experience with local storage. USB clips load quickly, and the only feature I've really lost is the ability to save 'Live View' clips.

So if I have a Blink XT system from 2018 can I add these XT2s with free storage?

Good golly, so much of what people are saying here is contradictory. Please, for someone who signed up in May 2020 (thus missing the official cutoff) and only uses XT1's currently:

Will integrating XT2's change anything on my account at all? Several people are saying you still get 2hr of recorded clips without a subscription, so it seems like there's no change... but I want to be sure.

Adding cameras to an existing account simply adds cameras to your existing account. Nothing else changes. I have XT and XT2 cameras.
