American propaganda

edit: that's a joke
While true that it was meant to push an agenda about lies, the truth also accidently slips out

Cities now burn over "systematic" events less common than lightning strikes, these are the modern "lies", truths if acknowledged undermine the credibility of the entire system and so everything is suppressed.

Quote from JenniferW1923 :
I think people care more about Chernobyl because it only happened due to the sheer arrogance and hierarchy of the communist party. If people hadn't been hired based on party loyalty rather than qualifications, if known mistakes hadn't been redacted to save face, and if a pushy employee wasnt after a promotion, it wouldn't have happened. Even after it happened, they lied to the Germans about the extent of the radioactivity and fried their robot lol. They then had to clean up their mess by sacrificing their own "bio-robots". Modern world cringe to say the least. I think it's the unbelievable circus surrounding what happened that is most intriguing. Fukushima was just tragic.
They care because it was foreign and it fits in with their modern indoctrination of ecological disaster and russia bad, zero self reflection beyond the usual orange man bad.

The lesson they fail to take away from it was that it was the ultimate consequence of political correctness.

I'll be honest. I don't get the high critic love this show gets. I tried to watch it, but it just made me sad and bored after the first 1.5 episodes. I couldn't finish it and didn't want to, as I wanted to watch something happier.

Cool show, just understand what you're watching... a highly dramatized and inaccurate rendition of actual events. Basically does nothing to educate and only increases ignorance of modern nuclear power generation.

Agreed. Great show, but badly damaged nuclear power in the public eye, even though it is currently the cleanest, safest, and most efficient method for generating power that we currently have available. People should not equate what happened in Chernobyl to modern nuclear power.

I own it, I had the blu rays, definitely better in 4k but it's not an incredible leap. I only bought it because it's one of my fav mini series

If you wait a little bit, there may be a part two to Chernobyl. They recently discovered that there are reactions starting back up in inaccessible areas in the basement under the reactors where the cores melted into. If they cannot find a way to reach them and stop or slow the nuclear reactions, it can blow again.

Ridiculous comment. ANY reaction would be miniscule. And it is ONE reactor, not multiple.

Read more than one article before stating something like this

I absolutely loved this series. I don't know that it's the type of thing you'd watch repeatedly though.
I don't think I want to watch episode 4 again.

Nuclear power already had a tarnished fate in the public eye. There have been so many near incidents and then you have Chernobyl and Fukushima - poisoning the land for hundreds of years if not thousands.

Yeah it may be "cleaner" but that's a relative term. You fail to realize that the byproduct is hazardous waste. Most of which does not have a home and will never go anywhere except maybe a mountain? Humans fascination with burying things they don't know what to do with.

Again, cleaner is relative.

Chernobyl happened in Ukraine. Keep practicing your geography.

Which was a part of the Soviet Union at the time. For all intents and purposes, it was a state in the country much like a state is here.

Elaborating further, most people just refer to the Soviet Union as Russia. It isn't like many of those states came aboard willingly lol.

If walking and chewing gum is tough for you, you should probably just give up gum, because it's a choking hazard. Then again, being removed from the gene pool would be a contribution to human evolution. Here's a link to a gum deal. https://slickdeals.net/f/15026773-orbit-sweet-mint-sugarfree-gum-20-pack-box-280-pieces-10-65-subscribe-save?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1 Laugh1

I haven't seen it yet but own it on Blu-Ray. Worth picking up for 4k/HDR and giving the Blu-Ray to my Dad?
