And $900 is approaching OLED prices, the other week you could get a 48" LG CX OLED from Costco for like $1300 and it came with a $100 Hulu credit and a free $100 extended warranty as well, you could have also knocked another $100 off the price using the Costco $100 promo code that there was a huge slickdeals forum thread on. I was tempted but I already have a 65" OLED so skipped it.
There are plenty of articles/youtube vids on how the LG CX 48" OLED is almost the perfect god tier display for everything but 48" is too big for alot of people as a computer monitor which I get and LG is going to come out with a 42" OLED eventually from what they announced. 42" is still big for a computer monitor but at least more manageable.
For me personally, I couldn't pay $900 for a 27" IPS LCD 4K monitor that is going to look terrible when playing games with dark scenes or playing anything that has dark content. I don't know about all of you, but if I'm going to pay almost $1,000 or more for a computer monitor, I want almost perfection. Rtings said this about this panel:
"Sadly, it's not a good choice for dark-room gaming due to its low contrast ratio and terrible black uniformity. Its local dimming feature performs terribly, so dark scenes don't look good." https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re.../27gn950-b
Once you game on an OLED especially dark games where the OLED true black levels can shine it's hard to go back to LCD monitors with all their drawbacks.

I've been using stuff in the 51-55" range for over a decade now... (including a 51" Plasma, then a 55" C6 OLED, now a 55" CX OLED)
Just sit a little further back.

I'd bet you the cost of either you couldn't tell the difference between this (allegedly 1ms) and an LG CX (measured ~6 ms in game mode) in terms of response time.
I'd expect maybe the 0.01% of humans who literally make their living on FPS games maybe could, but that's about it.
Then again studies like this one suggest even THEY couldn't tel with that small a difference-

Note that 1ms time is likely BS BTW... the problem is there's no one way EVERYONE measures and reports response time... so the only way to BS check the marketing specs is when a 3rd party tests devices using the same method for all products and reports the results the same way too.
LG claimed 1ms for the GN950 too, when rtings.com actually measured it it was between 4-7.6 ms depending on mode.
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re.../27gn950-b
Which if same is true for this one means the response times are basically identical from this monitor and the newer LG OLED TVs... (while the OLEDs offer a bigger, and better quality, picture too)

People see LG Display is releasing a 42" panel and they get all giddy. What you and so many others don't realize is LG Display makes panels not monitors/tv's. Those are made by LG Electronics. LG Electronics has already announced their tv lineup for this year and nothing is below a 48".
Yes LG Display is making a 42" panel but it's unknown what company is buying them and if they are going in tv's or monitors.
