This is a mechanics set...

Were you planning to hammer and stab your Prius?
232 pieces and it only has 8 wrenches? Ridiculous.
Your kit has a massively inflated number due to the Allen wrenches and the bits. The above kit actually has a usable number of sockets.

You have to be insane to take a tool set that doesn't include 1/2" sockets and ratchet over a set that includes the 1/2" sockets and ratchet. One is going to need 1/2" sockets and ratchet if they are working underneath the car. The big thing that is going for the 215 piece is the storage space which is a PRO but not enough PRO to be missing 1/2" sockets and ratchet. I am a fan of storage space but I wouldn't purchase that....

Hex keys are a MUST! in every tool set. They are used so much that every tool set must include them. I wouldn't buy a tool set without enough hex keys. Hex keys are pretty expensive too as a 30-40 hex key set costs like $30.
Allen keys are pretty much useful only for assembling some Ikea furniture. Anyone doing actual repairs will use Allen sockets.

I always use a ratchet when ever working on guns or my rc toysEEK!. Your words of wisdom have inspired me to tape a ratchet to the cord of my sawzall and start using a 10lb sledge to pound nails. We are all so blessed to have been given advice by you.

I can tell you never used hex keys before if you think they are only good for ikea furniture. Were you expecting a hex socket set in this mechanics set? Unreasonable expectation. There is a reason why hex keys come in EVERY mechanics tool set and it isn't for ikea furniture.

How much is a hex key set and a hex socket set? Big difference in cost.
Portability and weight of hex keys and hex socket set?
What is more compact and can fit in tighter spots? Hex keys.
Hex keys are also handy with power tools, appliances, furniture, bicycles, etc. and the list goes on and on.

Ball end hex keys may even confuse you even more.

Mattacks is right. You don't buy a damn socket set for hex keys. They bend and break under any automotive use, especially the chinese garbage in these sets. Anyone who has done more than a brake job knows they are useless unless they are hex sockets or hex bits. Ive thrown away every set of hex keys ive gotten in socket sets because they are a waste of space. All of these sets are cheap chinese junk anyway and no better than harbor freight. If you own no sockets and can't afford nice ones then this set is fine to start out but they aren't quality tools by any means.

This isn't a socket set, it is a general use mechanics tool set and is intended for more than just automotive use.

If you only want sockets, then go look for a socket set instead of complaining that a general use set includes general use tools.

This or this set with metal box? Which is better for home and auto?

215-Piece Standard (SAE) and Metric Combination Polished Chrome Mechanics Tool Set https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMA...5000183145
While most will automatically say metal is better than plastic, the plastic case doesn't rust, dent, or flake paint. I'd call it a draw on material. However, the drawers almost certainly slide easier with the metal box. But, the organizers in the drawers are completely different. The metal box comes with ultra thin cheap plastic trays. The plastic box has molded spots for each piece and will easily outlast the trays in the metal box.

How do we feel about this vs the husky set?

A roll of just standard length combo wrenches weighs 5 pounds all by itself and takes up a lot of space. They have to draw the line somewhere.

I take issue with this kit only having 83 sockets, and only eight of them are 1/2" .

By comparison the Husky kit on the FP has 131 sockets.

How do people get replacement and warranty on Craftsman tools now? Are there alternative stores that warranty that sell the Line?

The sadistic part of me desperately wants to see one of these kits but it's all hex keys and screwdriver bits. Idk why it's so hard for these guys to offer a legit mix of decent tools that people actually need.

Right? No torque bar or wrench, impact sockets? I got a buddy who worked on snap-on truck, he said there's really only a few set of sockets that shops use all the time, invest in that, and always torque bar or wrench, and impact sockets. These will save your hands and get things done quicker.
