The charger itself is $45-50, charger & both batteries from $155-180 on eBay. Weird cuz just yesterday 13 of these chargers and battery charger kits sold on eBay. Maybe just a phenomenon cuz only 287 of these sold in last 90 days..

Yeah I was outside of 90 days.

I didn't see any option to cancel a portion of the order and had to cancel whole purchase. Even live chat wouldn't allow a partial cancel as it was a Buy 1 Get 1 deal. How does this hack work?
This is what's keeping me from buying this. Do we have to return the extra batteries in store for partial refund? Not sure if i want to risk buying and driving 50 miles to my nearest Home Depot for this deal not to work and waste my time and gas.

Couldn't have been easier... Customer service credited my card $116 on the spot for the return of the extra batteries.

Retail and market price are not the same especially with Makita deals like this being off and on for a very long time. No one is paying $80 for the charger by itself. After this same deal last year I had the charger and batteries on fleabay for months at $125. No interest. Decided to just hold on to and build out my 18v line instead.
I'm well aware retail and market rates aren't the same thing, but I wasn't looking to flip the extra batteries I didn't need on the secondary market either.

I guess the only way is to return the batteries in store and hope customer service credit our money back on our CC

This one is a worm Drive, I went with the Sidewinder one, which is faster and more smooth, but blade is right sided which some right handed people don't like, although I'm right handed, but after reading about them I went with the Direct Drive one (XSH06PT)

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makit.../307288228

From Pro tool reviews:

Direct Drive (Sidewinder) Breakdown

Spur Gear Design
Side Motor Design
Higher RPM
Lower Torque
Shorter and Wider Profile
Lighter Weight
Typically Blade Right
Easier to Maneuver
Best for Cross Cuts and Softer Woods

Worm Drive Breakdown

90-Degree Worm Gearing
Rear Motor Design
Lower RPM
Higher Torque
Longer and Narrower Profile
Heavier Weight
Typically Blade Left
Tougher to Maneuver
Best for Long Rip Cuts and Harder Woods
Periodic Oiling is Necessary

In most cases you can cancel deliveries (before it is shipped obviously) online just by hitting "cancel order/delivery/whatever", but HD pickup orders do not have a simple "cancel" option where you can press a button. However, don't be afraid it is still easy to cancel and get your money back. Your options to cancel in-store pickups are:
1. contact customer support online
2. Call the store and have them cancel it
3. Go into the store and tell them to cancel it or pickup and instant return (whatever is easier for the employee I guess)
4. Don't pick up the order and after 7 days it will be cancelled and your card refunded

Hmm…looks like my local Home Depot cancelled my order for the batteries even though they have them in stock. Not the first time this place refused to honor a deal. Hopefully the saw will still ship.

If you don't pick up the item that you don't want, it will automatically cancel and refund?

That is suppose to be how it works, but I have instanceS in the past where they marked my order as "picked up". So I was charged and didn't have the item, had to go down to the store, talk to the manager, have them check the system, a whole ordeal just to sort it out.

If you cant get the partial refund, then sell the extra batteries. Either way it's a great deal. Same deal with the rear handle/worm drive. Btw, they have had this deal for a couple months now.

Have the item you want to keep shipped to your home or shipped to a store where you'd like to pickup from.
Have the item you want to "return/cancel" shipped to a store you never go to. Just never pick it up and they will eventually cancel and refund that portion of the order.

That's how I do the HD hack.

I picked up mine in the morning at the local store including the free 2 batteries. Printed my online receipt from homedepot.com that showed the kit at $132.48 and the "free" batteries as $116.52. Took the batteries (and receipt just in case) back to local store in the evening and returned the 2 batteries to get my $116.52 back.
