Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

No in the market for Bolt, but, in the market for a new vehicle and the ID4 and Model 3 and RAV4 Prime are all interesting options. My question for you, when it comes to road trips and charging, are there standard plugs in these vehicles or converters or they all need their own stations to charge? I see there are different charging networks and sometimes I see charging stations at different shopping plazas and such, but it's not clear to me if only certain stations work with certain cars? I think Tesla is only for Tesla, but how about all the rest?

I do know there are different charging rates and that depends on the vehicle AND the charging station, but again, if I'm driving somewhere a bit far from home and need to top up, what's it like? Do you get stuck somewhere for hours, possibly waiting for a station to free up? Etc?
I just got an ID4. If you charge ID4 at "Electrify America" stations, you pay nothing for 3 years!! But you can charge at other charging stations. Think of it as different brands like Shell, Chevron etc. most of these stations have the same plug that's used by ID4. I think Tesla might use different plug type.

I fully expect something like this to happen fairly soon. Not to get into the politics of it and regardless of the politics of folks here and their views of all this and related issues, but if they're serious about infrastructure and a green economy, they're going to have to do something like this, if not even bigger, to get people to switch to EV or hybrids, to create more jobs here, and to meaningfully transition to that green economy. I'd say this regardless of my political persuasion and whether I agreed with such policies or not as it's pretty much a given. They HAVE to go big, or they go home (they might go home even if they go big, but that's a different matter).

Bottom line, I'm betting on a massive push towards EVs and hybrids over the next few years that will bring out more, newer and better models at more affordable prices and with a better charging and repair infrastructure to support it. My next car's going to be an EV or hybrid. So are many peoples'.
I hope you are right, I have my cybertruck reserved and that 7500 credit would take a lot of sting out of it. I reserved the dual and tri motor and I'm up in the air about which to get, if I get the 7500 then I'm going tri for sure.

I haven't seen it anywhere mentioned...can this Costco deal be used in conjunction with the GM Employee (GM Family First) deal? If so, is the employee pricing the base price with an additional 3k off? TIA

The new bill is a tax rebate. However it's not passed yet and even if it does you'll see the price of these going for MSRP. Just like when the original 7500 was available you didn't see discounts on these. The bill doesn't affect this deal currently at all.
Still wouldnt that mean(next year) you could get a model 3 for $30k, and a 2022 bolt for $23k?

Depends on the dealer. Some have stacked costco, gm supplier/employee, loyalty, and gm credits. My dealer will not stack the supplier/employee with their "best bottom line deal" and the costco only dropped "the bottom line deal" by $2000, not $3000. Hell some dealers are just doing msrp and dropped the $3000 off they had been running for the last few weeks.

What gets flushed? Brake fluid, or are the calipers also electric?
It is the blinker fluid - annual flush needed actually

I don't think the model 3 would qualify from what I've read. For the full 12.5k it needs to be made from a union led factory in America.

If it passes the Bolt should qualify. I've heard it's gonna have a hard time passing though because it's a whole new bill and not a revision it needs full support and most likely those states that don't qualify for the full 12k will vote against it.

Hopefully it'll happen but I am not personally holding my breath for it.

Was anybody able to replicate this deal? I called two dealers and they give me 350-400 on this car even when I tell them about Costco promotion?

It's the game they play. They just take it off MSRP. This is simply 3000 off so it's replica table but in the end it'll still probably be more expensive than it's been in the past since most of the incentives have gone away.

They take like 12k off the highly inflated MSRP.

Government doesn't need to jam it down our throats. High gas prices will do the job just fine. In the last few months, everyone I know that's buying a new car is buying an EV (SoCal Area). Not just Tesla; Mustang, Niro, Bolt, etc.

If you have a garage, it's a much more convenient to have an EV than an ICE car. Plug in when you get home, full "tank" when you leave. The last time we needed to supercharge (40% to 80%), it was done before we even got our drinks from nearby boba shop.
They do need to work on EV stations though because it's definitely a hindrance to jumping into these. Plus price is very expensive for normal people. This is the best deal currently and once the 2022 comes out we'll probably see it over 30k again.

I was wrong.

I just read the bill:

"(3) EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendments made by this subsection shall apply to property purchased after December 31, 2021."
Appreciate you finding that. You may want to edit your first post to avoid confusion!

By "there really isn't any", do you mean that their EV components are basically maintenance-free, or that they can't really be repaired at home and must be taken to a dealer or garage? I mean, there's more to an EV than electric motors and whatever transmissions they have, and EM braking, that are comparable to the subsystems and components in ICE vehicles, beyond brakes. E.g. suspension, A/C, lighting, body, windows, etc. I assume that steering is electric powered, but that's been available on ICE cars for years.

Thankfully I haven't invested too much in engine-specific tools as most of those will be useless on EVs. Most of my tools will likely be applicable to them.
the previous EV i had, i drove for 75k miles. only thing i changed were:
1) tires at 45k miles
2) 12V battery (warrantied)

that's it.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to help those in SD that helped me in the last deal in March.

We needed a good second car for commuting (40-50 miles a day). Our other vehicle is an ICE minivan which is great for hauling 7 ppl and lots of stuff). Fuel mileage is terrible which made getting an EV make more sense.

We looked only electric for the next vehicle due to convenience, being a tech freak and savings on gas. We test drove the Tesla 3 and Y as well. The deals in March were better than what we have now (due to chip shortage and new models arriving with inventory stripped from last deal).

I ended up going to a dealer in LI about 58 miles from where we live in NYC. I got a tip from Slickdeals on some dealers willing to negotiate. I ended up getting a good (not great deal) by comparing other dealer numbers in the area until you locked down a deal. Remember I never set foot in the dealership before I had their numbers sent to me. I ended up going to Chevy Smithtown and dealt with Dan. We did the deal over the phone and chat. They had over 15-20 cars in March so I had a choice of color and package. I ended up getting a 2020 Premier in Summit White. We had most of the rebates (customer cash, EMT rebate, Costco, etc) and ended up getting 36 months/12k miles lease with no money down for $195 a month (tax, title not included). If we had a current lease, we would had a few thousand more off. Also, my electricity provider gives me back $1500 a year for charging during the off peak hours (12am to 8am)

We spent less than the time of driving there to complete the deal. Quick insurance and signing and out of there in less than 1-1/2 hr. It was really fast since we did all the preliminary paperwork. We did put a refundable $500 just to hold the car since they sold a number of these at the time. He had the car charged and washed when I got there. I highly recommend Dan if you go all out there. As of today, they had a few more 2020 and 2021 Bolts still on the lot.

So far, I am in love with the car, big plus is the one pedal driving, quietness, size and Android auto. I charge mainly on the 120v charger due to the low miles per day but I have access to my 240v dryer plug when I need a quicker charge.

It is an amazing city car and I am not sure what people say about the build quality, it rivals the Toyota and Hondas I have owned. The seats could be better but it fits my tall frame well. I have zipped pass numerous faster cars on the road as this car has some pickup at the start. The 0-60 is no slouch for sure.

For those still on fence, the great deals are harder to find and anything under $200 a month lease is good for such a good car. Good luck and hopefully I can pass my experience to help anyone else.

I bought a 2021 LT yesterday and stacked the $3,000 Costco rebate with the $12,000 rebates that were already in place. I also got the $1,500 loyalty rebate, $500 educator rebate, $1,000 in credit card points, $200 in GM MyRewards points, and a dealer "flex cash" rebate of $1,000. $40,185 MSRP out the door (taxes, fees, etc) for $25,000.
