I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Bonus offer changes from time to time. Credit card welcome package is always generic and does not include the current offer info. Such info should have been disclosed on your application when you signed up. You may download the Chase app. The spending tracker will show up there a couple days after your card is activated.
Thanks for the info! I downloaded the chase app and the tracker was there.
I just noticed that the Chase Sapphire Preferred that showed up with excellent odds of approval on Credit Karma for me and my wife a week ago, are now gone!
Chase is likely limiting approval of these cards now. I feel we will most likely get rejected at the bank tomorrow. Our credit scores are 825 & 810.
Went to Chase Bank today and me & my wife both were approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.
Banker could not expedite Cards, but gave us a number to call.
Just for an update to all for those worried about if you'll actually be getting the better offer in branch.
My wife applied in branch in the middle of June and got expedited shipping for the card.
We spent the 4k immediately the day we got the card (Had several big expenses waiting)
Our Ultimate Rewards portal shows we've hit the spend needed to get 80k points. Our progress bar shows 80k.
However, as of July 1 it shows that we'll be getting 104k+ points on the next statement. This means that we will be getting the 80k + 20k (bonus) + 4k+ (spend)
We haven't used the card on groceries yet so I can't confirm this one. But others have confirmed it's working.
Lastly, I don't see an annual fee charge.
May I ask if the additional 20k points to complete the 100k bonus is printed in your wife's credit card disclosure paper? I only see the 80k and &50 grocery credit on mine but I see others here saying it is on their paperwork they got from the branch.

Yes, on the paper disclosure it only mentions 80k pts and $50 credit. I don't see an extra 20k in points mentioned in the paper disclosure.
Furthermore I'll add... On the Ultimate Rewards page, I see in top middle "You did it! Your 80,000 bonus will be added to your points balance as of your next statement on xx/xx/xx." However, just left of that message on the UR page, I see "+104,xxx points with your next statement" instead of +80,xxx. So that leads me to believe that we're getting the 20k separately. We haven't gotten the points yet since the statement is in a week.
What's the downside of downgrading in 11 months? Is there a condition in the terms that you have to keep the card active for 12 months to get 100k points? I thought 100k points are ready to spend once you spend 4k in 3 months.
most banks frown upon closing or converting a recently opened card account, and 1 year is generally considered an acceptable tenure. some, including chase, won't even allow product change before 12 months.
closing an account before at least a year has passed may negatively impact chances of getting approved for future cards from that bank, especially if they paid a signup bonus.
it doesn't cost anything extra to convert/cancel right after the 12-month mark, as opposed to earlier. on the contrary, it'll often allow you to double-dip on following year's benefits for free.
Sorry if I am slow on the uptake. If I have a friend refer me (who already has the CSP). Will only my friend get the 20k extra and I only get the 100k sign up offer? Or will they get 20k and I get 100k + 20k.
The referral bonus is only for the referrer (your friend) and not for you as well. You will only get 100K.

Thank you. That's awesome to hear. I wasn't sure if the internal memo mentioned here required that the additional 20k needed to be written at the disclosure statement. Your experience just gave us assurance.

yea no problem. My intention was to provide assurance for those who went in branch to get the full 100k. So happy to help someone else with our experience!
Is there some way to verify the bonus is active/track your spending toward it?
I received my card today, but nothing in the envelope mentioned the 100k bonus.
You should call Chase, harass the poor customer service reps and demand proof of the bonus and have them personally call you daily to report your progress towards the 4K spend.
It's so weird, I signed up this card in local branch, banker told me the 100k promotion. But when I checked the chase app today, the information above spending process bar shows 80K bonus with 4K? Is app wrong, or banker signed me wrong offer?
Tried to spend +$500 online this week but order was declined, then tried to use at restaurant today and declined again. Never received any notice there was an issue, so called them just now and was advised the fraud department closed at 4 pm PDT. Not sure if they'll open tmw with it being 4th of July (rep wasn't sure). As one of the largest banks in the country, would assume they'd be open 24/7, or at least until evening, for these issues.
So just a warning if your card gets declined, there's a chance you might not be able to fix and use again for a day or two.
