I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

I wish this card offered more than 2 points for food/travel. Wellsfargo card gives 3 points for food/travel/gas. my BOA cash card gives me almost 5 points since I am an elite rewards member.

I want recommendation for this too. For two cards (me and my wife), we need to spend $8000 in 3 months.

We will prepay the utilities but I dont feel comfortable paying more than $2000 to utilities since $2000 will have us covered for a year.

What are the other things you can purchase/prepay beyond utilities that counts towards spend?

I heard that credit card companies have a way of detecting gift card purchases so they dont qualify. Any way to get around this?

MF, I just got the 80k offer! Kind of annoying that the referral link is still 80k though. With a $150 referral + $50 grocery bonus though I guess it's about the same. Still though would be nice!

$150 referral?

That would be correct with one exception. Wife's card (used my referral link) has 4 transactions posted already. No 20K points in my account yet.

So my screen only shows the 80K bonus, not 100k, for the purchase that went over the $4k spend requirement. I'm wondering if there's something else I have to do like download the Chase app? If I recall correctly someone in this thread earlier said that their 20k bonus didn't appear until they used the Chase mobile app. My wife definitely applied and was approved for $21k in branch. I may have to call Chase about this if I don't see the bonus appear soon and I don't want to do a $50 spend on groceries without getting the bonus for it.

The additional 20K will show up on your next statement (the very same statement that the 80K bonus shows up).

Reference (from Tazmania99):

You'll note that although the message begins with, "You did it! Your 80,000 bonus points will be added …", that further down the page it notes that 101,526 points will be earned on the next statement (80K bonus + 20K bonus + 1,526 points earned with purchases).

You'll also note that the math adds up. Current account shows 2,489 points. Points earned this statement 1,526 points. Combined points earned crosses the $4K threshold.

Plastiq to pay rent/mortgage. Pay irs. Pay property tax. These typically all have fees. No one will tell you the no fee options. Gift card option just kicks the can down the road. You still spent the money. It's just now in the gift card and gift cards have fees.

Prepaying and spending are two definitions. In addition, not all gift cards have fees.

You can buy gold/gold coins - it's re-sellable, and most likely you'll even gain money. Or you can buy a collectible with stable/increasing hold value like some of the Rolex watch models - if a dealer agrees to sell such one to a new customer.
I would go for gold coins. Silver is also OK, but more volatile. Check what price of the coins you are paying compared to re-sell/gold wholesale market.

Crypto is more lucrative and easier to buy and sell with fewer fees.
