I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Just got the card and I'm like 1k away with insurance and a few lil purchases.
Be careful. Now you're going to be judged and you don't deserve to be on SD as ALL SD member do not believe in the Insurance industry scam.

As of this week, I've received everything promised. I applied at a branch on 6/15. I have received $50 grocery credit (in multiple purchases) plus 100K points (it showed up at 80K + 20K bonus on my statement) and no annual fees.

You've got a lot to learn. Insurance is to protect you, your family and belongings from other people and other things that happen that aren't in your control so when somebody hits you and they have no insurance at least your insurance will cover you and fix your property or further if somebody tries to sue you for some moronic reason you have insurance to cover your butt and you're not out on the street with no home and no vehicle because you decided you didn't need any or you took the bare minimum which won't cover squat.
Uh oh. Another one of those who "waste" their money on the insurance industry scam. You too just like me, do not belong here on SD.

It is, any banker telling you 80k is misinformed.

why? you're saying the extra 20k points is worth more than the annual fee?
Last I checked, $200 (or $250 via PYB redemption) is more than $95. I can't imagine Common Core screwing up math so much to make that no longer true...

So, I had requested the PYB credit for all my grocery and restaurant purchases on the first statement. ALL were credited today. Paid off some of the 4K in a cash payment at the ATM, plus the credits bring the first bill down to $137.xx remaining. Used about 24K points for PYB of about $307.xx. Life's good. Smilie

Thank you for all the data points, all the encouragement and some of you repeatedly answering the same questions over and over again. I would not have the same level of patience as you guys do especially @1dash1 and @Tazmania99.

While some of these members were debating about having trouble racking up 4K or 8K, wife's first statement is still 10 days away and we already have $2100 on her card too. We should be able to make the 4K spend on her easily as well. Of the 2100ish, 1K is prepayment of $500 each for VZW and Piedmont Natural Gas. Will tack on more next month for both plus Duke Power. Would be nice to not have utility bills for 8 - 10 months give or take. Smilie

I don't know if it's been changed since I did this several years ago but you can prepay more than $500 to Verizon. That limit is only applied per transaction so you should be able to execute more than 1 per day.

You are very welcome and I am glad to lend a helping hand. Also congrats to your success of capitalizing the PYB credits. I am just too lazy and purchased $4K out of $8K spending threshold on prepaid Visa/MC gift cards when Staples offered no fees on these cards a few weeks ago, and $2K of Amazon GCs from supermarket with 1.25x PYB redemption value. With this I'll save my time on monitoring my spending. 200K total points for me and my wife will be credited next week. Applause

How is this lazy? This is even more work. Now you have to track your gift cards and ensure you spend them all. The only thing you did was remove the 3 month time limit. Although you did say you spend alot so you'll only have to track for a month or two. For frugal people, you'd have to track these gift cards for months or even years. Lots of stories of gift cards being lost or skimmed without people even knowing.

You could manufacture spend them. But that's a whole new level of work if you don't have a game plan already all set up.

Guarantee you'll never use it. It's just for your peace of mind. In reality, it's wasted money. Insurance industry brain washed you into fear. That's why you feel this way.
