I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

MDD is still working if you want both the CSP and CSR.

i'm sort of in the same boat. Have CSR - had wife apply for this and we got the deal with 100K bonus, 1st-year fee waived, grocery credit etc. Not going for $550 AF coming up in Sept - so I'll downgrade it to no fee card.

Then the question is, how long do i need to wait before applying for this 100K myself (if it still running). I'm wondering if Chase will blacklist or anything like that. My plan is to keep 1 card active and pay $99 AF - as it'll allow transfer of points to partners, plus $99 vs $550 AF. Plus additional member card is free with regular Sapphire (Reserve has fee for each additional member)

Before you downgrade or cancel the CSR, check whether there are any residual benefits you are leaving on the table. For instance, there's a traveler credit (e.g., Global Entry) every four years. If so, you may be able to renew now (if you signed up for the CSR in 2016 and applied for GE then). You may also have some of the $60 DD credit or $300 travel credit for 2021 left over.

My link of that member's earlier post already tells you the turnaround time of a product change. It usually takes 2 to 3 days but apparently Chase is now taking a longer time for that, roughly 5 to 7 days.

You may downgrade your CSR to a no-fee card. Before you do that, make sure you transfer all your UR points to another UR account and use up all the perks. After your downgrade, wait 5 to 7 days before you apply for CSP, the longer the better. In the meantime, the best approach is to have your wife refer you for the CSP. Once you are approved, your wife is going to have an extra 20K points. The value of referral bonus is better than signing up yourself in-branch to have $95 AF waived.

Ugh, got the $95 charge today. So stupid that a brand new card still charges the fee for the first year. It should come free/waived.

I would say that you can do both: apply for CSP and earn 100k points, and then get the 2 SW credit cards to earn companion pass. In general, you wanna try to earn the SW 125k points at the beginning of the calendar year. Because when you earn the companion pass it's effective for the rest of that year and all of the following year.

You could apply for CSP now while the offer is at 100k points and work on meeting the $4k spend. These points are pretty flexible and can be transferred to many airline/hotel partners (as long as you have the CSP). You can stow them until you find a good use for your travel needs.

Then, around October/November, apply for the 2 SW credit cards. Work on the spend requirements for both cards, but make sure NOT to complete it until after the new year. If you time it right, the points from your SW credit cards will hit your Rapid Rewards account in January, which means companion pass for you for almost 2 years! Now you and your companion can travel the US (and Mexico and some nearby islands) essentially for free.

These are broad strokes and I would recommend you research them further. If I misstated anything, I hope this thread can/will correct me.

Dude, it's pretty well documented that applying online meant that you'll get charged the annual fee right away. If you really wanted to get it waived, you could've looked into applying in branch. Or was that not practical based on your location?

I seem to recall something like that was posted based on a single data point. However, it looks like it has been retracted:

EDIT:
Found the reference to August 27th in a different link:

Sure. I've transferred points between my Chase Ink, Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, and Freedom accounts. Points transfer instantly. I don't recall if there is a minimum number of points to transfer (I don't think there is), but the maximum is whatever is currently available in your account.

I've even transferred points between my wife's account and my account.

BTW, most people do NOT close their Reserve accounts. Instead, they choose to preserve their credit history by making a product change (downgrade) to a free Chase Slate or Freedom account.

Remember that you'll be getting 1.25 vs 1.5 per point for the Reserve when you do that.
