I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Hey all - hoping someone can answer me direct as I don't want to read through 233 pages of posts to possibly find an answer:

My wife got a pre-approval letter and invitation code for this 100K offer.
Looking back on out records the following is true:

My concern is the verbiage:

"This product is available to you if you do not have any Sapphire card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 48 months"

- She had a CSP card from 2013 to 2019. This means we would have gotten the bonus sometime in 2013 or 2014, which should be fine for the 48 months. The way I read the terms is she has to have gotten the bonus more than 48 months, but could have had the card more recently. (?)

- She had a Chase Sapphire Banking account in 2019 (opened and closed) and I believe we got 60K bonus points for that. But, again, that isn't a bonus from a Sapphire "Card", that was from a bank account.

So, based on the above, and based on the fact they sent her a pre-approval invitation - should we be safe?

EDIT: Well we applied for her anyway since we need to get the card rather quick to put some big purchases. I talked with a rep at the CSP line and while she couldn't officially deal with new applications (they were only for existing accounts), she said everything sounded kosher for my wife to get the bonus.
The 100K offer did show under my wife's account on Chase.
However we signed up instead using the https://chasesapphiremail.com/ link and invitation code that was sent to her in the mail. Strangely enough it did not show anything at all during the sign up regarding any bonus, but since we had to put the invitation code in it should be tagged to the account.
She was approved instantly, so once the card comes this week we will call and just double check they have the bonus offer attached and that she is eligible.

1. She is good since her account was opened in 2013. 48-months pertains to the last bonus received.

2. Being an AU of CSP does not disqualify her from getting one for herself and the sign-up bonus.

3. The 48 months restriction applies to Sapphire credit cards only. Banking account does not count.

All in all, she is good to go assuming she meets other criteria (5/24 rule, FICO, credit utilization and income, age of credit, proof of identity, etc).

A friendly reminder: $95 annual fee will be waived for the first year if she signs up in branch. If you are still a CSP cardholder, refer your wife to apply and you will get 200K pts once she is approved. But you can't do both.

- She (may be?) an AU on my vanilla Sapphire Card. We don't seem to have a card for her and the account isn't listed on her Chase sign-in. But, even so, an authorized user shouldn't count, should it?

Blah....thanks...wish I got this before we just did the application to save the $95 fee in-branch. But, to be honest the ease of just doing it online is almost worth it (though not quite!). I am about to call Chase and see if I can downgrade my Sapphire (plain) to the Slate card so that I might be eligible for another Sapphire offer next time.

Out of curiosity, what happens if my wife gives me a referral in a year with her CSP and then downgrades it to a standard Sapphire? Will she still get the bonus? My plan would be to try to get myself a CSP right around the time hers is coming up for the next AF, but since bonuses can take 4-6 months to post....

thanks

As long as you apply via her referral link, she will get the referral bonus even though she is downgrading her card later. Her downgraded card must be within the Ultimate Reward family to receive the points, however.

If your Sapphire bonus was received more than 48 months ago, you don't need to wait any longer to apply for CSP. Just product change your vanilla CSP first. When your wife is approved for her own CSP, she can refer you right the way after she receives and activates her card. Then you apply via her referral link. Once you are approved, she will get another 20K points.

By the way, it doesn't take long to receive your sign-up bonus once your minimum spend is met. It is usually credited on next statement. Referral bonus will take a bit longer though.

So, you guys that go for all these credit cards with points, do you use them for a few months to get all the points then cancel? Then do it again when available? Doesn't this lower your credit score?

Is it possible to apply for CSP in branch via a referral link to waive $95 fee and get 200k points to a referrer?

Agree - if eligible, this card will pay for itself. You can always downgrade after 13 months if you feel you're not getting your money's worth or dont want to pay an AF.

I had this card maybe 5 years ago, will i still get the bonus if i apply again?

Wait a minute.. the referer gets 200k points for a referral? I thought it was 20k points? Also the person using the referral link doesn't get anything extra correct?

Anyone know how long it takes for the referral bonus points to be credited or recognized in the system? I referred my wife who then immediately got the card. We both show the sign up points pending for next statement but I don't have anything indicating the referral bonus. Thanks

My bad. I keep having a typo on the referral bonus point amount. It should be 20K.

The applicant will not get anything extra from the referral.

Chase will not notify you of anyone applying and getting approved for the card because of privacy issue. The referral bonus points are usually credited within two billing cycles after your spouse gets approved and activates her card.

God bless you if you can move that much in CC purchases a month. I mean, I guess you can pay everything with the CC and the pay it back at the due date.
