I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Wouldn't risk it as it can be categorized as a cash advance which doesn't count. Not only that, but you won't get the additional 25 percent pay yourself back making the 100k points worth $1250 and can be used as a credit toward that charge for grocery store and home improvement store purchases to nullify the charge as a statement credit.
How do you get the additional 25% pay yourself back?

Ok your online statement under a transaction there is a button to do that. For example, if you see a Home Depot charge, there will be an option to PYB with your points and it shows you how many points, how much you save, etc.

Hoping to get some opinions from people on whether I may be eligible for this bonus yet. I opened a previous sapphire card May 17, 2017. I don't know exactly when I got the bonus. Would I be safe in assuming 3 months exactly from May 17 and I should be eligible? Which means August 17. Or is there a possibility I still wouldn't be eligible? I'm not sure how the bank determines the open date and statement date when a card is opened. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You got them for 300K points and they got you for at least $12K spend! They may be laughing all the way to the bank because you might be the ideal sucker they are looking for who will pay them rich dividends for years to come.
What are you talking about? I spent the money, paid the bills for cards under my name, my wifes, and my dad - and received ~$3500 in benefits for doing so. I don't know how I'm a sucker but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.

Can you pay yourself back on any purchase and NOT receive the 25% extra? I want to use this for utility bills but don't want to get stuck if I cant redeem the points for a lower balance.

Add 4 months to your account opening date and then count the number of months towards today would be more safe since you had first 3 months to meet the minimum spend and the sign-up bonus would have been credited to you no later than the 4th month. If you are still unsure, call Chase to find out your eligibility. They can tell you the exact date when your last Sapphire card bonus was credited. On my earlier post I said adding 3 months from the account opening date. I have corrected my post.

Just signed up for this at my local Chase bank today. They waved the annual fee for the first year, which was a good enough incentive for me. Just gotta wait for my card to arrive now Big Grin

Easy way to do it - i just double-checked. Goto your account using a computer/web browser. Go to statement and document sections - it goes way way back. I just viewed stmt from 2016, and it starts in the month where i opened the card. Just opened 2nd or 3rd, 4th stmt etc .. on top it has a summary of points. I got in with 100K points bonus, and it is an easy to spot.

Is there any compelling reason to keep this card after we get the 100k bonus? Seems like the standard perks aren't that great.
You get the primary car rental insurance, and this allows you to transfer points to partners, and then you use the points on their portal for 1.25x - menaing 10K points is worth $1,250. Ideally, you want to use that fee Freedom card, get category points, and use all your points through Sapphire 1.25x redemption option or transfer to partners.

Recent upgrade will give you 10% in points on all your spending on the anniversary, plus annual $50 credit for hotel booked through their portal.

I got the card last year and hadn't used it much aside from the $4k spent in first 3 months. So now we get 25% cashback for using the points to pay the balance each month? nice.

The 25% PYB bonus only applies to purchases redeemed in certain categories:
- grocery stores,
- dining at restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services),
- home improvement stores,
- select charitable organizations,
- Lyft Fund a Ride purchases.

Does anyone know when this offer will expire? I'd like to wait until the 16th to apply (when the new benefits come out) but would rather get the 100k SUP + annual fee waived (applying in person) than get the new hotel credit benefit.
