I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Just got approved for this card! When spending the first 4K, does it make sense to book travel through chase (not paying with points, but just putting it on my credit card)? Or should I just simply book travel stuff like rental cars and hotels through priceline/hotewire/etc.

Depends on how much effort you want to put into comparison shopping. The simplest way is to book via the UR travel portal, earning 5X points and earning the $50 hotel credit. The most complex way is to comparison shop with travel partners and evaluate whether cost savings are worth the effort of points conversions.
I take a more "middle of the road" approach. I check prices on the UR travel portal and compare them with at least a couple of travel websites. If the prices are comparable, I go with the UR travel portal.
Got it, thanks for sharing. One tip for those with a spouse/household member with a CSR... you can also transfer all of your points over to them as well. Need to call Chase to set that up.
You don't need to call to set it up it can be done on the portal. Fyi

Yeah it can get pretty overwhelming comparing using the credit card on travel websites (and combining cash back, etc.) versus using chase rewards travel with 5x points back.
Yeah I was disappointed when I tried to combine points a few months ago and I couldn't find a way to do it myself online. The calling option sounds pretty straight forward, but I haven't tried it yet.
Well, I just did it. I now have prefer and reserve cards. I do have a high limit, not sure if that made the difference.

I think you are the only person who product changed a no-fee card to a Sapphire while already having another Sapphire card. Thanks for sharing.
I checked with Chase via Secure Messages as to whether I could do a product change from Freedom to Sapphire Reserve, while simultaneously keeping my Sapphire Preferred. This was the response (emphasis added to key points):
Thank you for contacting Chase.
We appreciate you taking the time to write into us. I will be happy to assist you.
We don't issue more than one Sapphire credit card per customer for new applications.
Let me share there is no credit check done on your credit report when you do a product change on your account.
We're happy to help you change your account ending XXXX to our Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card, but we cannot do this by email because it requires a detailed review of your account and additional questions.
You will not be eligible for the sign up bonus offer as this is only available on new applications.
Please call us at the number on the back of your card to get started. We accept operator relay calls.
I hope the information provided has addressed your concern today. Have a pleasant day.
Can anyone tell me how does the $50 food credit work? I have been doing grocery in various supermarkets and dining out for like two months but haven't seen the credit.
Correct. And even more value than $1250 if you transfer to airline partners for miles.
Thx I will have to jump through some hoops it seems when I get my points because it appears the flights I am going to need will be Delta and I cannot txfer directly to them.

When was your card approved? The food credit offer ended on July 17.
Note: While the sign up offer ended, new cardmembers that signed up before July 17 are still eligible for the credit (provided they haven't already exhausted it).

Appreciate the reply.
You can also book the Delta flight via the UR travel portal ...
... either paying for it with your Sapphire credit card and earning 5X points
... or booking it with points at $0.0125 per point.

Factoring in labor day, is Friday too early to apply for the new CSP or should I wait longer?
Can I simply schedule an appt by phone from the local branch or must I go to the branch in person?
Thanks in advance.
