I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Hello,

I have Chase Sapphire Reserve applied in dec 2018. I still have that card. Will I be eligible for this offer on Chase Sapphire Preferred? If yes can I apply, get the rewards, transfer to Reserve and cancel this one after a year? I think I have to pay for first year anyways?

Thanks!

Sapphire family bonus is every 48mo (either CSP or CSR)

You can't have any Sapphire card open currently (CS/CSP/CSR) + must be 48mo since any Sapphire bonus payout + must be under 5/24 (google "chase 5/24")

You are probably ineligible for this card.

One of the prerequisites is that at least 48 months have passed since receiving your last Sapphire bonus. Since you applied for the CSR in December 2018, the earliest that you would have earned that card's sign-up bonus would be in January 2019. If so, it will be 2013 2023 before you become eligible to sign up for this card.

Oof, PYB is pretty much useless for most people that use CSP normally now.

It's basically just AirBnb, away, and charities.

CSR still has dining and annual fee and both lose groceries.

Confirmed.
https://account.chase.com/sapphir...d/benefits

Please note footnote #3 in small print at the bottom: "... only redemptions against purchases made with your Chase Sapphire Preferred card with Ultimate Rewards at Airbnb, on awaytravel.com, and redeemed through 3/31/2022, and for select charitable organizations and redeemed through 12/31/2022 will qualify. ..."

For those interested, "select charitable organizations" include the following twelve charities:
  • American Red Cross
  • Equal Justice Initiative
  • Feeding America
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • International Medical Corporation
  • Leadership Education Fund
  • NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund
  • National Urban League
  • Thurgood Marshall College Fund
  • United Negro College Fund
  • United Way
  • World Central Kitchen
I could not find a Chase website with this information. This list came from the following third party sources:
https://frequentmiler.com/chase-p...self-back/
https://www.thebalance.com/is-cha...al-5094613
https://www.bankrate.com/finance/...self-back/ (Note: Typo between United Way and World Central Kitchen charities.)

Agreed. Dalek

None of the additional categories is of much use to me, since my travel has been curtailed during the COVID crisis. And they certainly don't make up for the loss of the Grocery stores, Home Improvement, and Dining categories.

Sure though it's pretty near the worst value redemption for the points.

Not sure I agree cash is the worst value. With cash, you can invest in stocks, crypto, real estate and make even more cash. If you are redeeming for flights, I agree if you are flying for business purposes to close a lucrative multimillion dollar deal it's worthwhile. But if you are just going to lay on the beach, that imo is the worst redemption value.

The new PYB categories are just lame. We are still in the pandemic. I wonder how many of us would really travel by 03/31/22.
