Meanwhile, FiiO makes decent DACs. I generally stick with them when it comes to ones used with phones especially.

I wouldn't suggest buying from creative official. Bought the used G5 and G6 earlier this year, G6 has a faulty audio jack, and G5 has to be reset to work each time I plug it in. Returned both.

They lost relevance because of Microsoft, not their practices. I don't know what you mean by the past decade? Creative was actually much worse before, when they were relevant.

That said this is a DAC/amp. So you may not ever even need drivers for it depending on how you're using it. Their DACs are actually decent. I have been using an e5 since they came out. The drivers have not been updated in years but it still works great in W10.

DACs are about the only thing I would consider buying from creative.

Would it be reasonable to ditch my Soundblaster AE-5 internal card for this external one? The reason I'm looking into it is, I need the PCIe slot for a 10GB nic. So does this give off the same quality sound. BTW, I use headphones the majority of the time.
