A higher limit gives you more wiggle room to have low credit utilization, which impacts your score. So someone spending $500 per month on a $1000 limit is 50% utilization on that card, which is terrible (unless they happen to pay most of it off before the reporting date). If they left $500 on the statement their score would surely drop. On the flip side, someone spending $500 per month with a $10,000 limit is only utilizing 5%, which if 5% is what is reported, it can actually raise one's credit score. Using your credit cards often while still having low credit utilization shows that you are responsible. Higher limits across the board + constant low utilization over time = eye candy to credit reporting agencies.

Exactly...

I looked closely at the 5 percent categories and to me they are useless. The card I have now has an online shopping category which for me personally is what I do more than anything else.

This is the card for dedicated categories. To me, my Custom Cash is only for gas pumps. My wife's card is only for groceries. We don't charge anything else on the cards other than these purchases.

Sadly, we are going to have no problem hitting the $750 spend on gas alone.

I would be very interested in knowing if I could generate virtual credit card numbers with this card too. Thanks in advance.

I was instant approved for $300 offer on 11/26 -- got my card yesterday 12/7

Probably in the next few days -- takes 1.5-2 weeks with USPS mail slow down
