16gb in dual channel, USB-C charging, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, and that beast of a processor. This checks an awful lot of boxes if you can live with a mediocre screen.

Actually that is not the worse part. This has a Matte display with almost no reflection and due to that, it is pretty okay in brightly lit room. The bad thing is the color gamut coverage, which is just 58%-60% sRGB. This display can't be used for any photo or video editing work. Anything other than that, it's pretty okay.

You can switch configs to a Ryzen 5 4500 and get the 300nit FHD IPS Touch Screen version for exactly the same price. Part Number 20VG007LUS.

Ryzen 7-4700 is a 8 core 8 thread processor, Ryzen 5-4500 is 6 core 6 thread. For most use cases around this laptop - assuming here that with this screen you probably aren't photo/video editing - you aren't giving up a whole lot.
Yep, I bought the 4500. I got the thinkbook 14 deal from a few months ago and had to return it because of trackpad issues. Hopefully this one is better.

I did see that, but how much better will 50 nits actually be? Plus I would like to have a card reader for my drone and dash cam. I use them quite regularly as I travel out west in the mountains quite often.

Idk how much difference it would make, I just needed a touch screen.

That 300 nits Touch display is just brighter and also used in the IdeaPad 15 GRE. It has same 45% NTSC or 58% sRGB color gamut, not suitable for any editing work. It's just brighter. That's why I preferred the higher end APU 4700U over 4500U.

I have insider information on Lenovo's new coupon code that's due to arrive in about 3 weeks. It's THINKJULY.

Anyone know if this laptop can run two external screens--one using HDMI and one using USB-C (Display Port)--giving you three total screens (separate screens, not duplicating the same ones)?

It won't be a problem if you already have a decent monitor. The usb-c with display port is pretty good can support 4k 60Hz.

from spec it should be able to support 3 external displays. Two usb-c and one hdmi.

Yup, those are all my check boxes too. Shame about that craptastic screen.

I will say, the fingerprint reader on my T480 is hot garbage. Works maybe 2 times out of 10. If I do go with another Lenovo and have the same unreliable fingerprint reader behavior, it's getting returned.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this should run minecraft or roblox, right? Looking for a laptop for my 13yo. He has a decent pc, but wants something portable to take to friends houses and such. No way am I paying the premium for a gaming laptop until prices come down.

It can run three external screens as both the Type-C ports supports DisplayPort 1.4 + HDMI 1.4. The HDMI 1.4 will be limited to 4K@30 Hz whereas the Type-C ports will be able to run up to 5K display at 60 Hz or 4K@120Hz, each.
