Technically they are almost the same as the red plus hardware wise, just that the firmware is optimized for writes. Every time I've seen the comparison come up in the context of a Nas, it's usually a big probably will be fine.

They are CMR drives with TLER enabled, the two things you'd be looking for in a Nas hdd. But I've never known anyone or pulled the trigger as the reds are meant for the read/write environment of a Nas and it's generally the same price or just slightly more.
