was interested until I read 5400 rpm - not fast enough for my cameras
If you meant the purple drive: What speed do you need, and what is your camera so I can look it up? I didnt know that was an issue with security cameras?
(I may get better cams, so I want to gather info of what HD speed id need. Ty.)
Edit: their words might disagree with you, so thats why I ask for your cam model.
Built for 24/7, always-on, high-definition security systems. With a supported workload rate of up to 180 TB/yr1 and support for up to 64 cameras, WD Purple drives are optimized for surveillance systems.
[The higher TB drives support even more:] WD Purple 8TB, 10TB, 12TB, 14TB & 18TB drives are designed to support Deep Learning analytics in AI capable NVRs, and feature an enhanced workload rating of up to 360TB/yr
And from a reviewer: "This drive supports 145 MB/sec sustained data transfer rates with a 6Gb/sec SATA interface. Your typical 1080p IP camera generates a H.264 or H.265 data stream well under 2 MB/sec. Surveillance drives are tuned to not lose frames when writing while their reading efficiency is mostly a secondary concern."
PS to anyone else: this price is a good deal for the purple. Same TB cost $110 on Amazon right now.
PSS for anyone with 6TB or more, can you tell me how many HD cams you have, and how many DAYS of recording your drive typically holds?

I've got the 6TB Purple in my Lorex NVR. I've got 5x 4k cameras and a 1080p camera going continuously have recordings back to 9/11, so that's almost 3 weeks
BTW - I got the drive 3 years ago on a deal and it was only $128.
