Purple drive warranty and workload rate are far superior. it is slow though, not intended to be used as your everyday PC drive.

Surveillance camera use is why the price is different. A regular "blue" hdd failed in my system due to non stop writing ( literally tested to see what the fuss was about) larger read write issues pop up in a little over a year for blue or non NAS/surveillance drives.

NAS drives and surveillance drives may be interchangeable if using in NAS since both applications are similar.... There is a reason why all HDD mfgs have different lines of product that's differentiated both in price and specs

An analogy would be something like.... if you needed to prep for a marathon race, would you hire a person that's completed a few marathons or hire a friend/coworker that runs occasionally? Yes, both have experience, but one is well suited than the other.
