I have this tablet for a kid and it is (in my personal opinion) the bare minimum processing power and RAM that my financial situation allows me.
Although customized with the heavy Samsung skin we all come to love or hate, it's speedy enough that I have had no freezing and only occasionally lagging while switching apps or launching something from a cold boot. It fully integrates with Google Parental Control (I ignored their kids mode because I don't like it), it allows me to control content, apps, monitor time usage, etc.
One more thing I forgot to add about Samsung's software, I paired Bluetooth headphones for my kid and was exceptionally delighted to find you can set max volume and lock it with a pin code. Thumbs up Samsung!
The screen is LCD but does not look milky at all and has acceptable black levels, speaker is fine and gets loud enough without distortion that we have to ask kids to lower the volume LOL.
The tablet is great, we lost the pen in no time even when I was watching its whereabouts as a hawk, I left the responsibility to my wife for a day and they lost it. While we had the pen, we did some sketches and it was awesome, it really is a good starting tablet for kids.
This here is a great, great summary, thank you.
I have to also make emphasis that I brought the financial situation because it is absolutely a game changer for everyone. A person in my extended family says that an iPad ($400dlls) is the bare minimum and that he would never buy Android because all he had contact with is Fire tablets, and let's face the cold truth, Android tablets just recently became good at reasonable prices.
The Fire tablets did way more damage than good to the Android ecosystem, since it is one of the most known tablets, a lot of people out there thinks about iPads as "good" and Android tablets as "trash". You can thank Amazon for that, bloating every device with crap software and no immediate access to the Google Play store.
When they say bare minimum, I believe they're implying its the bare minimum speed/useability wise to be a really useful device that is never inconvenient to use. I've owned a Samsung tab s6, Fire 8, and Fire 10 before, and the fire ones aren't really snappy at all. Also the fire tablets are just harder to use compared to Samsung's android OS since it's always wanting to throw ads and submenus at you. The Fire Tablets are good values when you get them on sales, since a sub $100 tablet that works okay for Netflix and reading is a solid deal. But if you try and use your tablet in the same way most people use their phone or computer (web browsing, watching media, smart home apps, gps, random small games, sending emails, parental controls, bright enough to use outside, casual drawing, etc), this really isn't very much of a comparison.
Not to shame anyone who uses a Fire Tablet, it's just a completely different market and use case. A kid could be happy with either, it just personally depends on the parent and what they want the tablet used for with their child, or if they wanna share it with them. I love my Tab S6 (not lite) very much as an adult lmao, and I don't think 90% of people will need something more sophisticated than that or even an S6 Lite, which still runs reasonably well for pretty much every common person task

Nah. New buds are sold for around 100. Plus taxes on 400.
S6 Lite is good enough for my kids.
I can almost buy two S6 Lite (224) for the price of one S7(400).
Buds can sell for 140 locally on offerup easily. Plus 15% cashback on 400 is $60. Tablet comes out to $200 before the $40 tax
I was on a night flight and the kid sitting next to me had his tablet on full brightness lol. I did not have anything to cover my eyes. I didn't complain though since he was a lil kid.
I got mine for about $220 last year during black friday using EDU discount, it also stacks with an additional discount after ordering. If u wait like 2 hours and choose to cancel the order they give you like a 10% additional discount to not cancel the order in the app.
About the product itself: I bought it because its the last remaining breed of tablets w/ headphone jacks. The SOC performance is pretty bleh, any game that requires 3D rendering of any kind will warm up the tablet and play really choppy (15 to sub 30fps) the ram is just enough to get by with most activities. Someone really ought to disrupt the tablet industry. The facial recognition is ass and double tap to wake doesnt work 80% of the time. This is more of a "work and video consumption" tablet or give to your kid who doesn't know any better tablet.
How far do you have to go when cancelling to get the 10% discount? I'm afraid if I press the cancel item button that it will actually cancel the order if there's no discount.

S6 Lite = Toyota
Fire HD 10 = Tata or equivalent Chinese car brands
All will get you from one point to another and whether it is a good deal or not really depends on personal preferences and use cases.

I would like to know this as well
$500 with ear buds pro.
I just ordered it and got the same price so it's still live. Got the blue tablet with black cover since it wouldn't discount the blue one.
Costco also has it today with the cover but for $190. Today is the last day for that price I believe.
Amazon has the hd10 one for $110 today and I presume it's the last day as well since its a prime day special.
