I ended up getting a renewal from Walmart w/ 3-year protection plan for less than the new one. Look at my previous post showing WalMart is slightly cheaper -- especially if you're buying a protection plan. I previously bought an E4 refurb and it was in near perfect condition, so I expect this to be the same. All of the listings on Walmart and Amazon are fulfilled by the manufacturer, so there isn't any gamble by going through one site over another.
Lidar or nothing. This Is the way
Bumps into everything, uses camera which needs you to have your lights on or vacuum only during daylight only...
The only thing Roomba is top notch for (vacuuming with enough light) is probably carpets and the auto empty bin... But you pay dearly for this
Again Roomba sux, Lidar or nothing

I do like the mopping feature, it doesn't save you from mopping, but it does do a good enough job that you don't have to mop as often.
Thanks for the call out. We'd been tickling the idea of buying a smart vacuum but weren't sure what the best value unit would be. Went ahead and picked the S6 up for the mopping feature. Hoping it does well with pet hair, too.

Do you feel like the protection plan is a must? I've never really considered them but we've never owned a robot vac so I don't know what an expected timeframe is. Do you expect them to break or malfunction? What is the common issue these things face?
I really don't know what to expect, but was happy that the protection plan for the renewed one was cheap and I didn't know if the battery had been run down. From what I've read the most common issues people run into are sensor failure, brush motor failure, and battery degradation. Most companies guarantee a 3 year battery life, so I wanted to have the plan in case my cheaper refurbs have batteries with ~50% battery life left or so.
Absolutely a must for smart vacuums, imo. All of the dust and bumping around is rough on the little computers in them.
Thanks! Good deal now or should I wait our prime day? I figure I can always return
For example, Neato has the D3, D5, D7 and these describe different models, not newer generations of the same model.
Anyhow, I just saw a vacuumwars video on the Roborock S7 and it looks like the best for my needs given combo carpet and hard floors (mopping function).
