Is this Moto G Play an upgrade or downgrade compared to my current Moto G7 that I got from Google Fi 1.5 years ago?
It's totally downgrade in cpu and display resolution but upgrade in battery life and newer android version. Not sure about camera but cheap moto are never great in photography. You need to choose what's the main point for you. In my opinion G Play overall feels much cheaper than your G7 regardless it's age

Thanks. I love my G7, but the battery is degrading. I think it might stretch for another year. If I can find a similar or better phone for about $100, I'll make the change. That's the price I paid for the G7. Otherwise, I might try to replace the battery in a DIY project.
This deal seems to still be available in my Walmart.
I currently have a Moto X4 (XT1900-1) on Cricket. I like the phone but Cricket says it won't be supported after Feb/2022 (it has 4G/LTE but was purchased as an unlocked Amazon branded phone).
This phone seems comparable, and at $50 the price is right. Anything else I should be looking at?
I'm grandfathered in on the Cricket 5 lines for $100/mo deal. I'm hoping I can just swap sim cards without affecting that.
I would not bother. Their unlock policy is ridiculous. You have to use the DEVICE continuously for 6 month. You cannot switch SIMs, or the timer will reset.

I'm going to have this same question.
