Would've been helpful for chase to notify over a month ago when it began but hey better late than never I guess
I know, weirdly enough I got this as an ad on Instagram...I don't see why Chase/Amazon didn't bother sending out an email on the offer but spends money advertising it on IG

I got this in an email but didn't open it because the title only mentioned travel benefits. Open the email after sick deals mentioned the gas benefit. Activated my bonus. Thanks.
It's 6%, and there's also cashback on gas and 1% elswhere, plus all the Cashback offers, and your calculation doesn't take into account what people spend in those categories, so, nice try, but no, the chase isn't better
And your calculation doesn't take into account the fact that Chase UR Rewards points is not only far more flexible (can be transferred to many partners); or the fact that (yes it does require you to carry multiple cards) with CSR, currently it's 7.5% cash back with pay yourself feature right now with; or that dining and travel is worth 4.5% right now with pay yourself and everything else is worth 1.5% (assuming you don't have unlimited, 2.25% with); or the fact that I can run to the grocery story/gas and buy a ton of gift cards if I don't hit the spending limit without the risk of getting my points clawed back by Chase. So yes, Chase IS better.
Also, whilst I do like the occasional AMEX offer, let's not kid ourselves, most of them are useless, saying this as one with 4 AMEX cards. Is 1% cashback even something to brag about?
With Citi Custom Cash, who would even bother with BCP again?
Bank of America cash rewards is the best if you quality for their platinum honors status (have $100k invested with Merrill or BofA). 5.25% cash back in a category you choose, you can change the selected category once per month, and you can have multiple cash rewards cards in order to get the cash back in multiple categories. I've got two cash rewards and I selected "online shopping" for one of them and "dining" for the other.
Yeah that's best if you have $100,000 in stocks. Most Americans don't have more than $1000 in savings. Also I'd never put $100,000 in a Merrill/boa account unless the cash rewards cards include mortgages which I hear is stocks only.

If you ever changed jobs, you can rollover your 401k into an IRA. That qualifies.
Thx op, tu and repped! Chase freedom's offer ends 6/30 so good timing, especially with gas prices double the past 2 yrs or so, and expected to keep going higher.
The last week of June 2019 gas was $2.65 in the US. Double would be $5.30 Gas is that expensive where you live?

I think he meant past year. Regular unleaded national average hit $1.72 in April 2020. So in that sense, no he's not wrong. Your price is one year too early (his fault) and includes all grades of gas, including premium.

What kind of setup do you run for citi custom cash? I'm open to canceling my amex BCP since I'm only going to use it on groceries 9 months out of the year due to chase quarterly 5%.

Citi Custom Cash automatically gives 5% to your highest spending category per month as long as it's one of the spending categories (grocery, gas, etc) so no setup needed. So during the months you're using CF/CFF for grocery or gas, etc, just use it for the Citi for other categories.
It is up to $500 per month though so you do lose some flexibility compared to BCP If you go over that threshold in a month let's say. But a minor problem and no annual fee.
$200 signup bonus on $750 spending. Mistakenly said $250 before.

Go either to your chase app or web portal > sign in > navigate to your cards homepage > Scroll down until you see the promotional offer(it should be above "chase offers" I had a hard time finding it so good luck > this will take you to the same link as above but should work this time.
Thanks to Altor7 for this offer, would have completely missed it otherwise
