I'm not recommending anyone to buy MacBook (I have never owned one)
But won't you agree that M1 can just sip on battery and keep lapping these Intel/AMD processors on every benchmark there is ...

I'm just saying what I said before Intel/amd should do something better and then increment their product lines .. if 5700U and 4700U are both Zen2 , then maybe 5700U should have been called 4750U
Make it easier for consumer to decide and not try to sneak in an old product with a new name

So apparently it can take up to 90 days for Amex credit to show up. Hope to see it sooner!

How did you like the screen? I just got mine (actually for my sister in law) and I think the screen is OK. I compared it to my wife's Dell Latitude that she has from work, and it compares fine with it. I haven't looked up the pricing on her Latitude, but I imagine it's around $1500. For $700, I think it's great. Processor is speedy.
This thing is great. The screen looks no worse than any normal laptop. It's not nearly as bad as I expected from all the nonsense here, completely serviceable.

Other than that the thing is a rocket. I hope people realize that they are getting an honest to God desktop replacement in a form factor that is .7 inches thick. It's crazy. I ran geekbench and it got 59xx which is like ryzen 7 1700x performance, from a laptop!

I feel bad for anyone that missed this deal because they listened to people here.

I do believe it is full aluminum aside from the bottom piece but it's thin clearly because you can flex the keyboard if push hard enough where I couldn't on my also Aluminum Spectre X360.

I dont think thats the same thing. This is not rewards points, it's cash back.

Like I used a delta card for this but I'm not getting $120 in delta points I'm getting $120 reduction to my bill. My app says we should see it within 5 days after payment posting.

Amex notified me that I redeemed my dell offer so I think it's good. I didn't use the link from here tho I used e.b.a.t.e.s

My gaming desktop has lasted me for 9 years so far. I'm still using an i5 2500K. Can I expect the same results with a laptop like this one? I've never owned a laptop.

This processor is leaps and bounds better than the i5 2500k (in both single and multi thread) but it would depend on your GPU in the gaming desktop. This laptop has integrated graphics which are likely worse than the dedicated graphics on your desktop. In geekbench this laptop (for me) got a 14,2xx OpenCL score which is about the same as GTX760 or a R7 250. It's certainly not bad but like compared to a top of the line GPU from today, it shouldn't even be compared haha

I doubt that! I'm using a GeForce 660TI. In 8 years, I've only had to replace the power supply and one fan. Everything else is 8 years old, purchased in 2013.

Well in that case, according to geekbench, this is better the 660 Ti scores 13,5XX whereas the R7 5700u scored 14,2XX in my test. Maybe combined with the better CPU side of things you'd see a big difference but I honestly don't know.

I bought https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/lapt...e%3Abv0as6

This is the second Lenovo that I bought that has trackpad issues so probably returning it. I have the dell amex offer so if this dell is $50 less than the Lenovo, which would you choose?

That's not the only problem; viewing angles and color gamut stink compared to a proper IPS panel. And there's no discrete GPU. This isn't a good deal.
Do you normally sit on the side of your laptop and use it or sit directly in front?

This is an ips panel. I tested side to side and viewing angles are excellent

I'd hands down take the dell. It's a much better processor. And it should be way cheaper. I got my dell for 510 pre tax. With just the Amex deal you're looking at $580 pre tax, idk what you paid but it says that Lenovo is 770 pre tax.

Is it preferrable now to have 2k or 4k screen in laptops in general or is 1080 still good enough? I've editted photos and videos on 1080 19-28" monitors.
I would say get an every level gaming laptop then get a nice 20+" 4k monitor.
