Lowest price I've seen for the Flex 5. Picked one up. Normally hovers around $400-$410. Solid device for a chromebook build is solid as well.

We picked up couple of these for our middle schoolers over the holidays for ~$325/each at Costco. So far so good. Compared to other chromebooks in this price range, I liked that this has:
1) i3 processors (versus Celerons and Pentiums from other manufacturers)
2) 8GB RAM (from Costco)
3) 128GB user replaceable NVMe SSD (compared to eMMC - not sure if this one via Amazon might have open slot for NVMe?)
4) Decent screen resolution when the kids want to use it not connected to external monitor/keyboard/mouse (via USB-c adapter)
5) Touchscreen
6) Backlit keyboard (again, useful when using on couch, watching movies etc.)
7) Tablet mode
8) Supported with Chromebook updates through Google [google.com]through June 2028 (among the longest I have seen).
9) Rare Chromebook at this price range with WiFi-6.

One thing that made me hesitate was that early feedback seemed to indicate the hinges might not be strongest. FWIW, ours has been working fine so far.

Take it for what its worth, but hope this helps someone's choice.

Enjoy,
-Topper

What?! Apparently Costco's deal is much much better

I've used a Chromebook that has 4GB ram, I'm not impressed (because I have linux shell enabled) , I will only get one that has 8GB ram

More than $300 for 4gb of RAM and eMMC storage? In 2021? You've got to be kidding. If you're in a school district that's in Google's pocket and are forced to buy one of these, I feel sorry for you, but that doesn't make this a deal (it just makes it the modern day $100+ TI84 calculator that cost $5 to make).

As already pointed out, you can get a much better configuration of this EXACT MODEL for less money if you really need one. Or, you know, any bottom of the line laptop from 4-5 years ago if you're not committed to Chrome OS.

If you can wait a couple of months, you will have 11th gen intel CB as well as the new CB based on 8195. Hopefully, they well be available before school starts.

I thought Chromebook were supposed to be a cheaper alternative. The specs for that price is $100 overpriced.

It delivers a superb, trouble-free experience if you are a modern internet/cloud-dweller.

Chromebooks are becoming workhorses if you want them to be. I wouldn't get less than 8gb, and preferably an i5 to take advantage of the Linux abilities. If you want a simple surfer and are just going to use it as such, sure get the $150-199 chromebook and keep your expectations low, but it they are nice being light, cheap, and long battery.

I think at this point there should at least be parity between windows and chromebooks for pricing and the specs you get. This has a touchscreen and decent build and is an i3 NOT a celeron. So I would say it's not a special deal, but it sure as heck isn't $100 overpriced. Show we the i3 touchscreen windows machine thats a decent name brand and build quality for $239... I'm still waiting... doesn't exist? nope. Chromebooks have full Linux subsystems now and are becoming full powered laptops if you want to use them that way. You can still get your $200 cheapo, long battery life, web surfer chromebook. Just celeron and 4gbs and likely no touchscreen. A full version of Steam is coming to chromebooks this fall. And I run several full desktop Linux applications including my trading platform. Chromebooks are not the laptops you think they are anymore.
