These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.

Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.

Any reason why someone should not convert to this card from the Cash Wise card besides not getting the sign up bonus?

When I go thru the process of changing from my cash wise to this new card it tells me I would lose many benefits such as:
Auto Collision Damage Waiver
Travel Accident Insurance
Extended Warranty Protection
Purchase Protection
Purchase Security
Lost Baggage Reimbursement
Trip Cancelation and Interruption

So for me its not worth losing all those benefits for very small increase of actual cash back.

I went from a Wells Fargo Visa Signature to Active Cash and saw that I was losing a few benefits but nothing really noteworthy. It was just a backup card I barely used as it was. My rate stayed the same at 12% variable which was the important thing.

My one gripe is that the card is... fugly. Its hideous, and doesn't even have the stagecoach. Its probably my best 2% card now though.

I current have the cash wise 1.5% and platinum 1%. I charge everything on the cash wise and then transfer the cash back balance to the platinum which gives me 50% more value towards air fare. So if I transfer $300 of my cash back, I get $450 worth of points towards airfare which essentially 2.25% cash towards travel. Does anybody know if this new card will allow the cash back transfer to the platinum card to convert to 1.5x towards flights? That would essentially make it 3% which is pretty sweet. I haven't called but I couldn't find anything online so far.
One thing: I have the same setup, though with Propel instead of Cashwise. I do the same 50% value thing, but I don't have to transfer anything, I just use the points and the 50% is applied as long as I have the Visa Signature. In fact, to my understanding, the points aren't attached to a specific card, but to a separate "points" account. Is that not your same experience?

Second, and more important, it's interesting that no one has replied to your question. I can't even find any mention of whether this setup works for this card on review sites. And that makes a huge difference, since we'd ultimately be talking about a 3% card. When I go to the WF page for the card, the link to "additional information on redeeming your credit card cash rewards" takes me to their Go Far Rewards page, which makes me think maybe it does work. But I'd like to see it confirmed before I apply.

EDIT: Since these points go into Go Far Rewards, I feel pretty confident about the 50% Visa Signature bonus, so I went ahead and applied (got a whopping $4k limit). Worst case scenario, I'll have another 2% card (will probably stop using Citi Double Cash), and also the bonus. I will update this thread once I earn some points and verify whether the 50% applies.

EDIT: After finishing the first statement period, it seems the rewards from this card (given in $ and not points) go into a separate rewards account that gets tied to your main profile and shows up alongside your account from Propel if you have one. However, I've confirmed you can transfer rewards between the account at a $.01 per point ratio in both directions. The short of it is that it does appear this is effectively a 3x card.

Purchase Protection and Extended Warranty Protection are nice. However, will need to weigh how often those services are utilized. For instance, Price Protection I've only used it a handful of times over the years redeeming maybe $500 in total and there are a lot of requirements you have to meet. Extended Warranty Protection, I usually find buying Square Trade for a few bucks lasts you more total years of protection than credit card extending an additional year, never have utilized this benefit personally. For as infrequently as I rent cars, fly or take trips, can just use a different card for that protection when needed.

An additional .5% with an average spending habit of $1,500/mo. will get you $90 more in reward cash each year. It might be a nice daily use card.

Yes, I agree that it will depend on what is more important to the individual user. This card is just one of many that I have in my wallet and for the small amount that I actually charge on it monthly, I would rather have all those extra benefits available to me when I use my Cash Wise card.

Good luck trying to get an external bank account set up for them. I signed up for this, and my account keeps giving me the error: You do not have at least two eligible accounts to transfer money.
Call customer service and they talk to you like they're stupid. And my problem is still unresolved.

Call their toll free number and they treat you like you're stupid, while leaving you at the end of the call reaching out to their tech support, who still hasn't called me so I can actually set up an external bank account.
WF is literally the ONLY credit card I have where I cannot set up an external bank account online by myself and need to call in order to do so (unsuccessfully).

Stay away. got burned for couple credit score points for nothing. Customer service is horrible, rude and lacks basic knowledge. Got approved but still can not get online access due to poor online access structure. Calling to the Customer service is waste of your time.

Read Very carefully before applying -

If you opened a Wells Fargo Credit Card within the last 15 months, you may not be eligible for introductory annual percentage rates, fees, and/or bonus rewards offers. See important exclusions below (on page 2 if printed).

So you may not either of these benefits .. 😀
