These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.

Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.

Did you get the bonus? Did you call or did they do it automatically? What if I am platinum?

Forgot to mention, I called to have the product change. I knew about this card when they first came out through nerdwallet mentioning it. CS was not able to give me the bonus b/c I'm not a new customer per fine print.

Signed up for this card. Go to the web site to set up auto-pay, which i do with all my credit cards, and it's unavailable. Because I don't have a WF checking account. They make this a PITA by design. They'll send you paperwork by snail mail though. Unbelievable. Oh, and I had to input a texted code three times in one online session. God this company sucks.

kills it
its not much to do in order to get into 2.5% cb in the long run. this used to have $100/yr membership fee. for someone that spends 3k/mo, .5% is $180/yr. if spending 10k/mo(limit for 2.5%), thats an extra $600 per year. only thing is i've heard they're stingy with approvals.

For those existing WF credit card holders, you guys will have to submit an application and open a new credit card to qualify for the benefit.

I called but they said upgrading/replacing my existing card won't qualify for the bonus.

I seen this by doing a simple search for a new CC and applied. Ditching the Capital One after 20 years

What in the hell: I got instantly approved for $30k (801 score, homeowner, professional employment). I can't remember getting anywhere near this much for a free (no annual fee) card.

Signed up for the 0% for 15 -- signed up for that new Citi card a few months back (for the same 0% reason) and only got $6k.

Would it be worth switching from the Capital One Quicksilver 1.5 to this 2.0% Cashback card?

I just got this card and DEEPLY regret it. Wells Fargo has been nothing but a HUGE hassle with the sign-up, approval, communication, different departments, customer service, activation, balance transfer, and decline of use. NIGHTMARE. Do not get this card, for your own sake. Be aware, the balance transfer is 0% APR for 15 months, but there is a balance fee of 3%. What a pain.

I had 2 credit cards with them previously (platinum, cash wise) and just got instant approval for this one with $2k credit line. I'm ok with just $2k since I plan on spending just over 1k then switching to other cards when those have higher rewards. 2% for everything is great though...it may keep a permanent slot in my wallet for that benefit alone.

In case anyone's in a hurry for credit, it did allow me to instantly add the card to my phone for tap/touch payment, and told me to expect the physical card in the mail in 5-7 days. For some reason I couldn't add this card to my Paypal yet though.

Clever String 959 forgot to mention that very important deal breaker information.

Fidelity Visa credit card will give you 3% cash back into your brokerage account as long as you have two million in fidelity manage accounts
If you're looking for the highest attainable flat rate cash back, I believe bank of America has at 2.6% if you qualify for platinum honors tier. Unlimited cash rewards

You only need 100k balance which can also be linked to Merrill edge. A lot more reasonable than two million. Plus it gives you access to their other cards which can give 5.25% back across multiple categories if you set it up right. All no annual fees
