These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.
Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.
When you initially get approved by WF you will get an 'instant credit available' amount if they approve you instantly. That number should probably be higher in a few days or however long they take to fully process your info. I didn't even know they gave me a higher limit until I happened to look a week or so after since the lower limit was fine with me. I had under 10k initially and then it was a little more than double that. At least in my case.
Some of the initial lower limits might be initial credit available and people just didn't come back to update the new higher limit.
Just applied and got approved for both Wells Fargo and FNBO.
$10,000 limit on WF and $11,300 on FNBO.
Update: Email says 19.99% rate on WF card so won't be using that much after the $1000 spent and 0% for 15 months. That's the highest rate of all my cards but pay in full each month anyway.
Just got my cards a few days ago. A few observations:
(1) both cards have the same number. I thought most issuers had gotten away from this. It means that if either card is compromised you can't use the account.
(2) used the card for the first time last night. The charge isn't showing up yet. My other cards show pending transactions as soon as they are made.
Neither is a big deal for me, but are things to consider.
Edit: (2) is not an issue, it's hidden but if you hit the + by "Temporary Authorizations" it shows pending transactions.

this CC is the WORST financial decision I've ever made. Wells Fargo is so behind the times, its an old person bank, jesus. Coming from Discover, I now realize how nice they were, never had problems. For instance, the cash back is only allowed to be redeemed in $25 increments and you cannot send it back to your bank. HOW DUMB IS THIS. JUST GIVE ME MY MONEY.

I have the PayPal Mastercard which also offers 2% cash back. That is my favorite 2% card that I have because I am able to get the money back as soon as my statement generates. A lot of cards require $25 increments in rewards to cash out. That isn't the case with PayPal Mastercard but the downside is that there isn't an upfront cash reward bonus like Wells Fargo is offering. I signed up for this new Wells Fargo Active Cash card. I did get my bonus a few days after my first statement. I don't trust Wells Fargo but I was happy to get the $200.
If your contention is about the $25, you need more help. Even when working at McDonalds for 2 hours will net you more than $25. those that developed the card assumed as such. they didn't develop it for those who need far stronger help on their finances.
806 credit score, solid income, 2500 limit . Had planned on stretching a large 10k expense and WF have the hard no against an increase. Card will sit in a drawer after the promo period.. bad luck for them since I was gonna make my daily driver. Sticking with Citi for now. Open wisely if u need a decent limit
Why, isn't this a better card that Citi Double Cash offering better benefits? Double Cash is only good for the 2% and doesn't offer other benefits.
The cell phone protection doesn't apply to MVNO? I don't trust Wells Fargo.
The cell phone protection on all credit cards do not apply to MVNO. per your logic, you don't trust them too? I hope you don't use YOUR logic on the SAT exam.
Citi DC you can take the rewards as thank you points, and combined with other citi cards get better than 1:1 value out of em....(quite a bit more if used for travel in some cases)
You can't directly transfer the Citi double cash points to airline miles. For that you also need to pair it with a Citi fee based card, the minimum of which is $95. If I an wrong, please correct me.

Looks like it is hard to get into unless you are in Alabama. Wonder if anyone applied recently.

Reason: Too many active credit cards (I have 17 open accounts at the present time).
I don't know what Wells Fargo considers to be a reasonable number of credit cards, but apparently 17 is too many.
BTW, I pay off the full balances every month ... don't know whether that works for me or against me!
