I'm itching to pick up one up at Costco at any moment, but it will really suck if I can't even do something as simple as capture family events.
Personally I've been flying drones for years now, and (I'm sure I'll get downvotes for this) but have even flown in places I knew were specifically off limits (state parks, etc) and I have never been ticketed, talked to or even asked about what I was doing. I think what most don't realize is that once that drone is up in the air, especially a mini, it's virtually invisible unless you're really looking for it.
I'm not advocating to go fly illegally, but use common sense. The FBI is not going to repel in to your kids birthday party because you're taking pictures and video with a drone.
My guess is NYPD will have a mix of cops that don't care and others that take it as their duty to protect the population from dangerous rogue drones.
(I will say I've seen one hanging out my high-rise window a few years back. That shit needs to be enforced.
