The "lifetime" membership is back on sale. $122.50 for 500 GB and $245 for 2 TB storage. Of course the company can shut down anytime but this deal has been popular for the last few years. https://www.pcloud.com/4thJuly-20...uly%202021
Don't ever buy this. I purchased and was made to believe that lifetime is 5 years. They cancelled my service. This is a fraud company
Their site defines lifetime:
"Lifetime Subscriptions
pCloud users can pay for a lifetime plan. A lifetime plan is in effect for the duration of the lifetime of the account owner or 99 years, whichever is shorter."
I am just a bystander but was intrigued into buying this then did some research on reddit, some guys said it has happened to them that If you have any pirated stuff, or even DRM free paid stuff that you got off Amazon or other places they compare heuristic scans of hashes and if they even find you having 1 such stuff and you have life time account you can kiss the account good bye. They will suspend and ban you end of story no goign back , and that user also had the crypto option but the folder which he thinks caused the issue was not encrypted but still, would you risk this? I was almost about to buy this then stopped myself, I am not planning to store pirated stuff but thing is even if you do the crypto package on top that costs $125 on top of this cost and they ban you for storing not worth it for me.
Just wanted to bring this to others who are on the edge. I might go with something else I think pcloud won't go bust but this is enough to turn me away from them...

If you paid for the crypto option, why even bother using the non crypto folders. Even if you don't have their crypto option. Use your program of choice to encrypt everything before uploading to any cloud service

What if we didn't get thr 125 crypto option ? Do you think everyone is gonna get that? Secondly I am IT and tech savvy can do truecrypt and or veracrypt, but not everyone will be aware and or be able to encrypt it before uploading. Since this is a life time deal last thing someone would want is being banned or suspended without recourse not a warning straight up shutting your account down. Again if you still think it's still a good deal yeah sure then go ahead..I am just pointing it out in case people were not aware I personally think encrypting is not impossible but not easy also when uploading from phones etc it would be straight-up Un encrypted..and many here will not buy the $125 add on crypto package.

This is a fair point. It would partially defeat the purpose of an online storage for an easy access from a mobile device if you have to encrypt it using a separate software. I just can't believe they won't give you a warning to rectify the issue before banning you. For me I only plan to store my personal photos and videos from my camera/phone but still a scary policy.

I would pay the $125 for the encryption and be done. If your data is really that important, what is $125 for the rest of your life.
I don't know, I feel like it's a lot of money to spend especially when some sale external HDDs have been like $120 to $130 for 8tb. Could get several of those and come out having more data... and like others have said, it's not always wise to buy lifetime service to something
This. If you have reservations about using a pCloud, just get an external HDD at Costco or something and host your own backup. You can access it via the web with a little work and you'll be better off for it.

Another person who completely misses the point about an online backup.

I read that thread and had my doubts but ended up buying the 2tb option. The crypto option is not automatic. I think u need to upload files in that vault and he was not sure if he did. Second, no one is forcing you buy that option. You can go with Cryptomator, for $10 to encrypt yourself. Cryptomator mobile app supports pcloud and you manage your own key. With the encryption in your hands, you don't have to worry a out the cloud pro ider snooping around. Pcloud+Cryptomator equals a slick deal in my book. I was able to select eu server during registration and you can add 2fa until of that for an extra layer of security.

So if you use cryptomator don't need their pcrypto? And also thr 9.99 is only for Google app for desktop app is cryptomator free? Isn't it better or cheaper to get their family one for 2tb for 500$ you can share with 5 and split the cost...

Correct on the first two. Depends on your family use and setup. I created a new Gmail account for backups and I have that setup for me and my wife's devices to cover us. My main use is for family vacation video backups mixed between 1080p and 4k with pictures. The family plan would not be cost effective for me in that sense. But if you have a siblings or another relative could work out best that route.

I think in the thread someone mentioned an additional $250 so $500 in total for the promo rate.
